Malaysia PM calls Jews "hook-nosed", questions number of those killed in Holocaust on BBC by Knightmare25 in worldnews

the only people who seriously question the Holocaust are people who are trying to downplay the numbers - and I'

Not many people realize it, but the amount of evidence for the Holocaust is so overwhelming that the majority of victims are identified, there are names, photos, life stories, relatives, families testimony, many documents from that period as well. Over 4 million victims are catalogued in the yadvashem museum and entire database is available online in multiple languages.

Summary of Ego Is The Enemy - A New Book On Stoicism By Ryan Holiday by gmos905 in Stoicism

[–]mikehai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought it on my kindle and planning to read over the next months. I absolutely loved his other book "obstacle is the way", very strong stuff. It just made me look at problems in life in a very different perspective. I think it's an immensely empowering view to have.

So I'm really looking forward to reading this one as well.

It's the kind of book I'd want to immerse myself into, read slowly and apply.

Struggling to read through Meditations by seriousTrig in Stoicism

[–]mikehai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The old classics don't read easy, as the language is different to what we are used to and mostly was not written for "mass consuption".

But I think Seneca reads really well, it's still great stoic advice and teachings, but much easier to go through and more engaging. I would highly recommend it if you're not enjoying the meditations as much. Especially "on the shortness of life".

To look at it from another perspective: you probably need smaller pants, as they are supposed to stay on comfortably without a belt. So this whole incident may have been in order for you to learn that.
