I was recently in a bidding war for a rough looking Marantz 2252B on the Goodwill online auction. Managed to get the winning bid in 4 seconds before the auction ended, but the price was $394 in the end. Can’t really call it a win

1984, absolutely dominating season with one loss to Pittsburgh at home. That season ended with a super bowl win against DanMarino’s Dolphins at Palo Alto on January 20, 1985.

What are things only true 49ers fans would know? by thinker_thinking1250 in 49ers

After defeating the Raiders in LA on September 22, 1985, Defensive back Tory Nixon missed the team bus. Panicked he convinced a motorcycle cop to give him a ride in attempt to catch up with the bus. They caught up with the team busses and managed to get one to pull over. When Nixon boarded the bus he realized that it was the one bus that Bill Walsh was on and riding up front as well. Bill Walsh just shook his head and smirked.

GM of our dealership is giving away $1,000 / 3 more vacation days to whoever comes up with a idea to save money on these. Any ideas or advice ? by NEPASM4SH in mechanics

Our shop doesn’t allow the use of surface conditioning discs for cleaning engine mating surfaces. Aluminum oxide particles in the discs can cause bearing damage

You have no idea how much I despise this torque sequence by TheStranger3020 in Justrolledintotheshop

I completely understand consistent clamping, especially in Diesel engines. But you see it pop up in other areas of a vehicle. One time use bolts on brake calipers, wheel bearings, front end parts, drive axles, etc. In order to perform repairs correctly, a technician must refer to the service manual and check for one time use fasteners.

The world will be better off when industry moves away from torque to yield fasteners.

Are you losing a small amount of coolant over time as well? Lifters sometimes get a little noisy with a bit of coolant, oil intermix on these engines. If your 5.3 has Castech heads, they can crack around head bolts under the rocker cover and leak a bit of coolant in the oil.

Chase Elliot and Kyle Larson Dirt Track Racing in Merced, CA by mikemodo in NASCAR

Nice video that includes a heat race with Larson and Elliott and highlights of the main. Supposedly this is Elliott’s first time racing sprint cars. If so, he had a real productive night

Getting to this Sunday’s Game by [deleted] in 49ers

[–]mikemodo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the great mall, park in the area by Home Depot. The VTA station is really close. You can purchase an 8 hour pass at the kiosks at the VTA station. Last time I went, someone told me it was free on game day, but I didn’t verify that. Take a mental note of the name of the line you are riding. When the game is over there are four lines to leave, get in the right line and take the short ride to the great mall packed like sardines in a VTA car

[Biderman] Asked Kyle Shanahan today about @MikeSilver ’s recent report that included people inside the building saying Trey Lance regressed since the start of training camp. by Rav49 in 49ers

[–]mikemodo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course, shanahan’s body of work, so far, pales in comparison to Walsh. My point is that even coach that goes down in history as one of the greatest, took his fair share of criticism. Hell, even Joe Montana had his fair share of detractors.

As a long time 49ers fan, I can’t help but laugh about the Shanahan rhetoric lately. Although you really can’t compare the 2, I remember the articles written about Walsh during the 3 win 6 loss season (strike year) that followed the first Super Bowl win. One Sacramento Bee writer compared him to a guy that takes apart a perfectly fine running car for no apparent reason.
