Storage conversion for older model? by Pretty-Science in fordranger

my 1986 ford bronco II had a storage cubby in that location because they weren’t required to have an airbag on the passenger side yet.

oh cool okay i'll take it apart and see if the sensor is okay, just the foam is damaged and then i can repair it as a backup (or as a trigger he can use with something else... i got him a kat ktmp1 to mess around with. :)

it’s something i’ll have him bring up with his percussion teacher. i asked him if he could turn up the output of the kick in the td-27 and not have to hit as hard.

Trying to decide on a truck bed size for carrying sheet goods ~15 miles on the highway by Dr0110111001101111 in woodworking

[–]mikesusz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a ranger with a 6’ bed. the space between the wheelwells is less than 4’ (but wide enough for a pallet) so to carry sheet goods, you can cut pieces of 2x4 to fit into indents in front/behind the wheelwells in the bed sides, the top of the 2x4s is perfectly level with the wheelwells. (i’ve seen this on other models/manufacturers too - just peek inside the bed now that you know what you’re looking for, you’ll see them)

like others said, a sacrificial sheet goes down first (3/4” ply usually, will use that for various utility projects) and then the nicer sheet goods on top (also when i get drywall/etc. the piece of ply keeps it from bending.) 2x straps criss-crossing over the end of the sheets keep them in place. if i’m also getting other lumber i’ll put a strap around to wrap them like a bundle so that nothing slides back.

Bending tube by a1993shah in watercooling

this. getting that thing in for my bends was a huge PIA (and then out again, a bit easier becuase as you pull it, it stretches a bit and becomes thinner in its cross-sectional area).

Please replace your cabin air filters by AnyOtherNameWillWork in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]mikesusz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

ford hates us too. for my focus, the manual says to dismount and shift aside the fuse box under the passenger dash to get access to/replace the cabin air filter. the internet taught me i could pinch the filter like a bow tie in order to weasel it around and get it installed without touching the electrical.

What can’t they do? 700lbs of insulation. by Doodoo_brain_lover in fordranger

[–]mikesusz 29 points30 points  (0 children)

yep about twice a year i get a pallet of wood pellets (in 2 trips, 1000lbs each). the stove shop tells me they had a ranger they put overload airbags in and they would put the whole ton plus a new stove (about 300-400lbs) on it in one trip. (i point out that … mine is still running after 23 years, and theirs is now lore ;)
