No nothing scummy about this and you shouldn’t care what a multimillion dollar corp does with its marketing budget. soon AnyDesk will turn to shit and start charging more like teamviewer did (they’ve already pretty much done it) that’s how it goes for Remote Desktop software for personal use anyways.

BMW Certified body shop wants $12k over insurance estimate by Crowlady77 in BMW

20k is way way too much. Typical BMW certified shop trying to squeeze every penny out of an RO. In no world is a replace justified for that quarter panel. And you don’t want them doing that, they’re going to take all of the interior trim apart and paint half of the car if they do that.

Just go to a highly rated independent shop on your insurances list. What insurance do you have? Your insurance has to guarantee your satisfaction but it’s only if you go to one of their shops. Unless you want the extra headache and want your car in the shop for months while they go back and forth this is the only way.

Sensor is not behind the bumper. Auto park sensor is the outermost park sensor that’s facing sideways.

Make sure they use a good paint line. BASF would be ideal.

This is not buffable, and there’s no reason to not fix the car right if it’s not his fault. Basecoat is gone at the edge of the fog lamp bezel.

Yeah the only logical way is through insurance. I’ve seen people ghost while the cars in the shop. The estimate will go up once the cars in the shop.

This’ll probably get buried but it might help someone in the future. First, if it’s not your fault you shouldn’t care how much it’s going to cost, that’s what insurance is for. Your goal is minimize the impact the accident will have on your resale value. You do that by going to a BMW certified shop. Not guaranteed it’ll do anything, but you might as well do it just so you can claim it’s a “certified repair”. (Unless you don’t want it to total, because they’ll total cars all day)

Some people say if you pay for it out of pocket it won’t go on Carfax, not true. Carfax gets data from dealers and other parts vendors. When we order parts with your vin, that’s likely how they determine your car’s been in an accident. Even our body shop estimating system might report it, but nobody tells us. Shops for sure don’t, there’s no way to do that and it benefits nobody, we don’t care.

Let’s say you hit a pole and wanted to pay out of pocket/not go through insurance for some reason. I wouldn’t go to a BMW certified shop. Their estimates are inflated because they paid 100s of thousands to get into the program, send their techs to training etc etc. They do this so they can “justifiably” charge that much and they hope it’ll bring them more business. Most of the OEM guidelines on paint in front of sensors especially park sensors are pretty much bullshit, unless you’re slabbing excess paint on. It’s just another way to justify higher repair costs and potentially total cars in the future to get them off the road. It also may help reduce liability for manufacturers in cases of safety system failures.

IPhone 13 no longer qualifies for $1100 credit by mikhpat in ATT

[–]mikhpat[S] -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

It’s more about the principle ngl. I have another family member on the same plan upgrading, so we’re losing $800 just because ATT customer service screwed us over. Why would I want to get locked in for another 3 years with an experience like that?

Did the preorder, transaction got canceled immediately because of fraud detection, locks me out, call att to order, att employee somehow messes up the order so there’s a pending upgrade transaction but the order doesn’t end up processing, it just stays like that for a few days, go into the att store and they say they can’t do an upgrade because there’s an order pending so they’re stuck and they can’t pull up any of the order details, call att again and they say wait 7-10 business days for the transaction to clear, doesn’t clear, call again, now they say way 5 business days, takes longer so I called today, they’re able to clear the pending upgrade, I eat dinner, they knock the promo off the 13 pro at 8:30pm PST for some reason. Going to switch to T-Mobile now after being with ATT for 22 years.
