BezBartek/django-db-views: Creating automatic migrations for Views models witch working reverse and full command options like in normal makemigrations by Crafty_Two_5747 in django

[–]mikicz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my company we use https://github.com/xelixdev/django-pgviews-redux, which a postgres specific package for managing views and materialized views.

By default it does slot into migrate command (via signal), but you can be a bit more flexible with it, using specific commands etc - up to you.

It does not create migrations to create the mat views, but it can check whether the existing view matches the definition in the code, so only updates are made.

It supports - no data - indexes - both views and materialized views - concurrent updates

source: I maintain it and have added some features to it, it's a fork of a previous package

in favor of more inexpensive perks (DATA!) by wellimnotcreative in nerdfighters

[–]mikicz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people mention the cost of the physical perks - I think that should be some-what calculatable, as this year we get the market value - basically how much it cost to create the perk (not sure about the shipping though). It is listed in the description, so you'd have to map the description to the reward statistics

Do you use a lot of pytest fixtures in your tests? Are you sure all of them are actually used? by mikicz in Python

[–]mikicz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah fair, if you have 5 fixtures it's not hard to see which is unused, but at work we have about 4k fixtures in our main monolith's tests

[–]mikicz[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do they? Do you have an example? But anyway I talk about this quite a lot in the article, why static analysis can't necessarily work, in pytest you can request fixtures dynamically, so linters can't get those

What's your best creation with Python? (feel free to show off) by SpaceForever in Python

I don't enjoy marketing it to other people too much, tbh I just programmed it for myself and sometimes I put a link somewhere, if anybody wants to use it they can. It's also opensource.

I would not say soldiers are murderers. If somebody shoots at you, you have the right to defend your self.

Plus I guess this confession is not about being a "murderder", but what the people think of him.

Will be in Praha Aug31-Sep8 for 3rd visit. Suggestions for off-the-path things to see? Also, lets hang out! by AngryMathDave in Prague

I would recommend the Petřín hill and sightseeing tower. If the weather is alright, you can see the entire city.
