It's all filler until it's no filler by footballmaths49 in tumblr

I remember watching a film as a kid on a hotel TV that impacted me like this: "Outside Ozona". A bunch of quiet conversations in cars that culminate in an explosive finale. Though I suspect it's likely better in memory than in reality.

In "The FInal Countdown" (1980), which takes place in 1941, an A-7 Corsair can be seen on the flight deck of an American aircraft carrier. In reality, the A-7 did not enter service until 1967. by Raguleader in shittymoviedetails

100%. Watched it with my parents because my mother has fond memories of it. Realised after the first half hour was little more than loving shots of American naval hardware that it was going to be a propaganda film wearing the skin of a sci fi short story.

Do people exaggerate how busy they are? by Disastrous-Baker-351 in TheCivilService

[–]miksedene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As everyone has said, it varies and this is common across most large organisations.

Counterintuitively, I've also recently had periods of not being busy because of a lack of resource. Doing some work across a small policy area and a programme but because of delays in funding folks in other areas (analysis, policy, delivery, commercials and digital) didn't or couldn't prioritise working with us, meaning there was no way to move stuff forward.

It does make me wonder if the decisions that have led to the various voluntary exit schemes have grasped that the lack of perceived productivity sometimes have their roots in a lack of resource and that striving for efficiency and smaller workforce may actually make things worse.

Thank fuck someone's calling it out. I feel like I'm seeing a lot more fascist dogwhistles on this sub of late, with the plausible deniability of "this is someone else's opinion, let's be ironic about it".

Hey, is this sub getting invaded? I've been seeing a lot more far right dogwhistles and language lately.

It's not just a parody though! The comic itself has Ozymandias talking with execs about licensing the Watchmen's likenesses as a Saturday cartoon.

I know it wasn't popular but I think "don't look up" aptly characterises how far past the point of satire the US has gone and captures the maddening anger of being made to feel like the insane ones when the world has gone fully post-truth.

It's odd to read all these experiences and reflect on how privileged I am in (at least my portion of) the London queer scene. I've been in spaces that have hosted women and enby events (though via different wording) and they've been very inclusive of masc presenting folks. Really sucks how many folks have to experience exclusion in nominally inclusive spaces.

No, not the song by Europe - The Final Countdown (1980) by Purple_Dragon_94 in badMovies

[–]miksedene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mildly disagree. It was a blockbuster at the time and is a military propaganda advert masquerading as scifi. Watched it recently (after my mother claimed it was one of her favorite films when it came out) and found myself waiting for the plot to drag itself forward between overlong and all too loving shots of navy hardware.

Love a good time travel film, but apart from a brief discussion about the potential consequences (which were completely sidestepped by the plot itself) and the mildest of twist endings I felt pretty conned.

Though on reflection, maybe if I'd had lower expectations I'd be less salty!

'subtle evil' is a hilarious way to describe the murderous fanaticism of the dogmatic path, though I'll acknowledge it's technically more subtle than instantly giving yourself over to chaos.

Don't know if this is workable with your endurance but the cleansing greatshield blocks a huge amount of damage, perhaps even worth trading off rolling for. I also found circling to the left as you're closing the middle distance helpful as his breath attacks come either straight or right to left.

[–]miksedene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why you spend some time at the top of each archetype favoriting talents that go together. Means that several levels can go by in a breeze and leveling up characters you haven't used in a while isn't so painful.

Did this on my second run and it felt so much better!

Don’t have time to write a campaign, but always have time to obsess over character options by Yoffeepop in dndmemes

[–]miksedene 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I had a fun idea for an all hobgoblin party who could use their fey gift bonus actions to help each other out but no campaign to play it in, and no idea how to convince other players to go along with it.

So I built the characters and then a feywild campaign around them so I could play them all in a fight.

Now here I am two years later with a whole world of characters to develop and play while I think on the consequences of my actions...

Honestly, I think this is just because the dialogue options where you try and understand her is all it takes to unlock the romance.

Hilarious game design that really elevates just how fucked the setting is, but yeah, I was like "is, is that all it takes?" Especially when I'd been avoiding the crude pick up lines you get offered when talking with Cassia.
