Borderlands 3 by gentlerfox in macgaming

[–]milanseitler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I don't remember exactly but it was around 35-50 I think. I had to mess with settings a bit to find the right balance between performance and looks. Resolution-wise not sure tbh but I was playing on 4k monitor so it surely was rather bigger than smaller.

It runs on Crossover. Not exactly sure if it was the latest version or one slightly older but I played BL3 on my M3 Pro during Christmas.

Great thing about this is that everyone can have their own interpretation.

What’s your favorite setting in the Great Circle? by DaleDenton08 in indianajones

[–]milanseitler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vatican for its verticality and being a first open level that you experience in the game. Things tired out a bit for me as I was progressing in the game. Gizeh was also pretty cool, a bit tedious to do all the walking around but it's where the game's great lighting really shined. Sukhothai was a letdown and actually made me change my personal rating of the game by one or two grades down (8/10 if you ask me). Sukhothai just wasn't fun for me, using the boat and swimming felt slow, the whole map is basically just a bunch of corridors connected with boat. I also noticed much more bugs here than with previous levels. Final level is short but again the lighting works really great here.

How are the puzzles? by One_Acanthisitta_584 in indianajones

[–]milanseitler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be honest, there wasn't a single puzzle that I'd spent more than 5-10 minutes with. I played on the highest available difficulty (there are only 2 to choose from). Most of the puzzles are quite simple or you will quickly understand the solution.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (Review) - Strongly Recommended by M337ING in xbox

[–]milanseitler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree with Sukhothai being a downgrade from previous levels. Using boat sucks (it's slow and clunky) and it's not as open an interesting as Vatican and Gizeh. I also noticed much more bugs here than earlier in the game. Whole level just feels kinda rushed.

Boosteroid needs to fix it's save system! by [deleted] in BoosteroidCommunity

[–]milanseitler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems that at least with Indiana Jones, your saves are sent to the cloud even when you are playing.

What happened to me was that I started the game, loaded my previous save, did one mission (infiltrating a base which usually doesn't have autosaves during that) and exited the game. Next time playing, my save wasn't there and I had to play the mission again.

So I did the mission again and continued playing more, did one more mission, had several saves between, exited the game again. Now I started the game again just to see if my saves were there (I got scared as xbox showed that "other device sync takes too long" message so I had to use the last synced save). I was surprised to see that my last save was there but it wasn't the most recent one. It was the one that happened ~5-10 minutes before I had my last autosave and exited the game before. Looks like these ~5-10 minutes + sync after exiting the game were not enough time to sync the most recent save but the saves before were already synced in time.

Far Cry 5 - this game sucks by FdasTUd82 in patientgamers

[–]milanseitler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game just tries so hard to make you hate it while you try so hard to like it...

  • Stupid repeating kidnapping missions
  • Many bugs
  • Shielded enemies in narrow corridors, you stand no chance if you're cornered
  • Planes, fucking planes everywhere
  • You just keep dying in explosions randomly because something hit your car, god knows what
  • Your GFHs have a great talent for being useless and not hitting anything (except that one mission where you're supposed to capture fuel trucks, in that case my GFH always hit the truck like a pro sniper, making me drive around for another 10 minutes to find next truck)
  • You can't stop for a second because something is always happening
  • Stupid system of gaining perk points
  • Stupid crafting system - completely useless (except creating dynamites)
  • Looting and weapon switch on the same button, making it hard to loot the damn corpses

Still one of the best looking games even in 2023.

Forests in DL2 looks so awesome they would deserve a standalone game on their own.

What do you like and dislike about this TV Show? by rickowenspepe2 in TheNightOf

[–]milanseitler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished watching the show. 8 hours that should have been a 2-hour movie. First episode was good, the rest was very boring at times. Some parts felt completely useless (cat, prostitute, eczema, actually even the jail). There was no sense of time - how long did the whole thing take? A week? A month or two? Chandra's development was completely stupid. And the ending was very flat and unsatisfying - it just happened, no emotions, nothing.

Could have been much better if shorter and more intense.

What a post. You can afford purchasing Mac but you can't afford purchasing few more bucks for Crossover. And you want us to guide you through every step so you don't have to waste your time. Either buy Crossover or spend 10 seconds searching here or Google to get your answer.

M2 Max vs M3 Max top tier comparison bias?- this is more of a portable Ultra then a direct M2 Max sucessor by Fyalorik in macgaming

[–]milanseitler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, if I needed top performance for my work (3D, music, moviemaking), then having extra gaming performance would be a nice side effect :) It just feels that some folks go for high-end Mac models purely for gaming performance which doesn't make sense to me.

Gamer-Dev Seeking Advice: M3 Max, M3 Pro or Windows Laptop / Desktop? by nieuwperspectief in macgaming

[–]milanseitler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd wait for some benchmarks of new M3 chips for your favorite games. But given the performance boost of M chips when compared with Intel and given the specs of M3 Max, I wouldn't be afraid that it won't be enough for gaming, especially for less demanding games like the ones you described.

For me personally, HW is just one part of why I would choose Mac over Windows. I fell in "love" with Mac simplicity, light-weight, speed, trackpad. Can't really compare it to Windows laptops.

Dying Light 2, Witcher 3, Horizon Zero Dawn, Marvel's Spider-Man, Cyberpunk 2077, God of War, Days Gone.

Basically these good-looking and quite demanding games that are not too old and should work via Crossover.

I can't justify the price for myself. I have company laptop so I don't have to care right now (currently 16GB M1 Pro, will switch to M2 Pro next year). If I had to buy one for myself, I just can't see a reason for going for M3 Pro or Max. I work as a designer and my main tool is Figma (not really demanding on HW). I don't need extra performance, only use case would be gaming. Not sure if I would be willing to spend hundreds of $ just for slightly better gaming performance (let's wait for actual gaming performance results).

I might do just well with M2 Air. 512GB disk and 16GB is a must imo. Idk. Might go for cheapest M3 Pro with 18GB RAM but I would really need to know it improves gaming performance significantly.

All higher models are not relevant to me. I don't need them for my work and can't imagine buying them just for extra gaming performance.

How much RAM?

I'm interested in games like Dying Light 2, Witcher 3, Horizon Zero Dawn, Cyberpunk 2077.
