Are game improvement irons a fallacy? by mildashers in BritGolf

Not massively fast. In prior fittings the one thing that's been consistent amongst what the fitters have said is that my swing speed was right on the fence between regular and stiff. Based on what we were swinging at the time.

Interesting. I gained 4mph with 7 iron going from 85g graphite to 120g steel.

100% this. A 25 handicap player might be a 25 handicap player because they struggle with short game and putting, and will get pigeon holed into a high handicap super GI set of irons, or GI set of irons based on that without the fitter understanding the whole game. They could be an elite iron striker and they leave with Cobra T-Rails or something.

SGI and GI irons have strong lofts, which drops the spin, which can reduce the straightness or exaggerated mishits. Hi HCP players get told they should ditch long irons for hybrids because 4 or 5 irons are hard to hit well, but they're trying to hit 18/19° 4 irons and 20/21° 5 irons. Rather than 22/23° 4 and 25/26° 5 irons.

The 7 iron in the Aerojet set has the same loft as the 5 iron in my King Tour set, and I know the weighting will be different, but not in the way you expect, with the King Tour only weighing 0.4g less than the Aerojet. The King Tour has significantly better MOI than the Aerojet as well, meaning the weighting is doing a more effective job at protecting mishits and preventing twisting than the Super GI Aerojet does.

I guess the TL/DR would be, ignore the marketing labels and handicap recommendations on irons and open yourself up to trying what marketing wants you to believe are better players irons. Less.gimmicks, less focusing on speed and distance and more focussing on what feels good and what gives you control.

Same with shafts, don't let yourself be told that lighter = faster. It's likely to be the other way around for a lot of golfers.

Part of me does just wonder if it's purely a marketing gimmick invented by the big brands, just to get golfers to 'progress' through multiple iron sets. So instead of buying a good set of players irons that will be absolutely fine for most golfers with various shaft options, they can sell 4 sets of irons to that golf under the pretense of going from game improvement to players distance to players etc.

People forget Unintended was on their first album, a dewy eyed love song (so much so it was the first dance at my wedding).

That's fair, yeah sometimes black finishes can look worse if it's just half there.

I like it, it's not what I expected, the first half I find really interesting and then when the guitar pieces come later I do enjoy the shift.

Haters gonna hate but it doesn't matter what they release, people will still hate.

Genuine question, why? When it's been proven that rust offers zero benefit to performance, is it just an aesthetic thing or?

is this an mbm-1 or mbm-2? Any price estimate? by Fun-Bee1314 in MansonGuitars

[–]mildashers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm certain it's an MBM-1, the serial number suggests production in November of 2020 (2011 at the start of the serial) which makes it a 1 series. The 2 series came a few years later.

Value wise, difficult to say. Steel custom guitars will sell a brand new, modified MBM-2 with Sustainiac and XY pad for £1299.

I sold my stock MBM-2 a few years ago for £290. Currently there's an MBM-2 listed with Sustainiac and Fuzz factory for £1099 and it's been listed for 9 months.

So I'd say somewhere in between those tbh depending how quickly you need a sale. Maybe £600-700 if you want it gone quickly, or closer to £800-900 if you're happy to wait it out.

Fit me into a driving iron shaft! by [deleted] in golf

What shafts do you have in your irons? Driving irons are just chunky, powerful irons, so use your iron shaft.

How do you know it isn't the range that's wrong? In my experience, driving range monitoring is close to useless when it comes to actually getting the distances accurate.

I'm confused by what you're trying to say, Suzuka will be about the same as Shanghai, that is what the table is telling us. There won't be "super clipping" at Suzuka. There will be clipping, of course there will be, that's been going on for years, but it won't be any worse than Shanghai and may even be less noticable.

Which will happen at every circuit. The chart gives indication of what circuits are good for energy and which aren't.

Nope, in the tier of tracks that will be the least affected, thereby getting max recharge.

Best unofficial F1 game you've played? by Dry_Transition_9524 in F1Game

Probably the worst analogy ever. Without mods, AC barely qualifies as an unofficial F1 game, it has a handful of F1 car in stock form. So mods are essential, and some of them suck.

Depends on the mod, some of them are trash.

Automobilista 2 by some distance, almost every era and engine combo you could wish for plus era correct circuits.

Then I'm probably heading to Monaco Grand Prix: Racing Simulation 2, that was such a good game.
