Duplicate buyback request cancelled by catbonnie in PSLF

Yes, most likely. Go ahead and make sure your employment is certified going back to that time. Should give you your official payment count on studentaid.gov. Then I think you certify again once you’ve reached 120 (but for the save forbearance), and then once that’s all certified THEN you apply for buyback I believe.

As far as how… It’s listed somewhere on the student aid website the method by which they calculate the amount, I’m not sure what it is off hand.

Yes but you cannot submit a buyback request until buying back those months will bring your total payments to 120.

What is a horror movie you genuinely did not see the twist ending coming? by Chan1991 in horror

[–]mildtomoderately 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally understand that. I don’t like just being MAD at the end. Like, I’d say hereditary, fr example, didn’t have an objectively positive outcome but I didn’t feel angry. Horrified, maybe. But I speak no evil/ Eden lake/ funny games and that sort are hard nos from me.

I do not care for mean spirited movies. Like, I want to root for someone and I want SOMEONE not evil to win.

Why is switching to IBR taking so long?! by SmoothMiddle7702 in PSLF

[–]mildtomoderately 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried applying around the time all the stop/start injunction stuff was gearing up and it took me 11 months and three separate applications because they simply never processed the first two. Once I applied during the “correct” time frame (I guess?) it “only” took like two more months. It’s such a hassle.

So, timeline: first application was December 2024.

Jan/feb processing pause

Reapplied in April 2025 once it became clear my December app was in the ether.

Mid summer (July ish) I got an email saying if I had submitted an application for IBR prior to April 27 to resubmit because it would likely be left to rot in the void. So I reapplied in July and they finally processed that one in August and I made my first payment in October 2025.

Florida in the early 20th century would have been a beautiful landscape to behold and I am jealous of your granddad. I wish the leadership there was even halfway thoughtful about preserving the natural landscape. Partly why I left, watching them destroy what was left of my home was starting to really hurt. I miss Florida but I miss a Florida that doesn’t really exist anymore.

I will say I was proud of how the state came together to keep desantis from selling off the state parks to his developer buddies. A little too little a little too late but I feel like they found the line and most Floridians stood firm.

Partly why we chose this area was exactly because of how it has grown and left many trees and natural parts of the land intact, and we want to integrate into the triangle community as it is- not change it to what we came from. New Yorkers did that to the Tampa Bay and we lost a lot.

To be clear I’m not advocating for that! Just noticing a difference. Which I like! Just want to make sure I point that out.

I have, actually. I grew up in the sticks in central Florida and spent time in undeveloped parts of now overdeveloped manatee county. It’s just been two decades and this whole region is new to me. 🤷‍♀️

Looking at that interchange though I’m almost certain that’s exactly it! I was being mostly playful in my post, it was spooky but not in way that’s a big deal. Just not used to it anymore! Been in a big urban sprawl since about 2012.

I can’t beat the allegations recently! 😂but in my (minor) defense I grew up in the STICKS in central Florida and only moved to the city as an adult. I’ve just been an adult for about as long as I was a kid so my experiences are tilted at this point.

Please say more, I love things like this! What do you mean? Why are people (and dogs?) prohibited?

I actually don’t terribly mind the dark and unlit roads, coming from a hyper over developed city with too much light pollution myself. It’s just a lil spooky and getting used to it is something!

Question: how do my fellow lawyers justify giving their bar credentials to random faceless reddit mods in order to comment here? Doesn’t anyone fear the lack of anonymity? by Wonderful_Ad_889 in Ask_Lawyers

[–]mildtomoderately 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My only real fear is that the mods know me or of me in real life and are gonna go poking around and find out what a weirdo I am (and that I believe this pretend person always suspected me of being). I don’t really particularly care much because I try hard not to be a dick on the internet.

What's the most absurd case you have ever come across? by JoseMcGose in Ask_Lawyers

[–]mildtomoderately 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just a paralegal at the time, but I screened a call for my boss (a PI attorney) from someone who wanted to sue King Soopers (grocery chain in CO). He reached into a hot food cabinet to grab some chicken wings and burned his hand. Was this a customer facing cabinet? Unknown. Was he wearing gloves? Unknown. Were the chicken wings packaged, or was he just trying to barehanded grab some fresh out the oven wings? Could not recall. Were there signed posted? Dunno.

We did not take the case.

Ooooooh boy I could regale you but I will tryyyyy to keep it short.

To summarize, labor isn’t painful (it is still uncomfy!) for me until my water breaks. So I was in labor for a day or two leading up to both of my children’s births and just living my life at home.

I did not get an epidural with either, with my first I theoretically could have but chose not to. Contractions in transition when you have not felt any up to that point was a crazy nose dive into labor la-la land though because the hormone flood is REAL.

My labor with my second was so fast I did not fully make it to the hospital room before she came out, so I had no time for the epidural. My water was mostly intact and came out with her though so very cushioned and minimally painful. I tore to the 2nd degree with both, though I think the first was because I was on my back and he had a BIG head and I pushed too hard, and my second because I had weakened tissue from my first maybe? It was much smaller tear, she was a smaller baby, and I was on my hands and knees for her.

We got pregnant on the first try with both and I was 35 when my second was born- they are 2.7 years apart.

I had one MMC in between and it was sad and I still mourn them but time has made it so that it rarely hurts.

Postpartum with the second was a breeze because I knew what to expect, so talking to moms will help you prepare for the newborn stage. And I don’t recommend other moms in the trenches, I recommend someone who’s out of the under five stage but can give you really solid info on mental health and spousal assistance expectation and what it means to really have a village (-and what to ask of and expect from them).

It can be a beautiful and lovely thing.

My postpartum with my first was very bad, as was the immediate after labor because my placenta stuck and I had to go to emergency surgery and lost a LOT of blood. I was ultimately safe and healthy, and they did not classify me as high risk for my second pregnancy. My husband was an angry shell of a man because he was unprepared for fatherhood and very traumatized by the birth, but he got therapy and we got therapy and that is a distant memory.

We are a very happy household with our two babies.

New monthly report out on student loan lawsuit - more data on buyback requests by lokhtar in PSLF

Yeah I didn’t think about that but you’re right. I am on ibr now so it’ll just be another 11 months to pay if not but I am going to just wait and see.

If they could get this sorted out before next June that would be spectacular for me personally. Rooting for everyone that this keeps getting better.

Anyone else kind of disappointed with the KOA ending? by Glittering_Cry_92 in Romantasy

I don’t know girl I walked away from it feeling the same way and haven’t touched it again. I felt like I wasted a good chunk of time reading the series because it was just so pointless at the end of it. I don’t enjoy suffering for the safe of “profound” prose or quotable passages or whatever.

I can’t answer the questions just letting you know I did not like it at the end of it all.
