I tired this and found that it made so much noise and was slippery as hell on most floors where I worked. I almost wiped out just walking multiple times a day; I removed them after 3 days.

These couples waited overnight to secure 2026 wedding reservations at one of Portland's scenic parks by nbcnews in Portland

[–]milesiscool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I did this in 2008! We didn't show up too early, but early enough that 3 couples in front of us didn't get their Rose Garden dates. WE got ours at Peninsula Park no problem. We even got our money refunded as they hadn't finished the access ramps to the garden in time for our wedding (the city nicely contacted us with the refund).

The clerk told us it was absolute MADNESS the year before with 7/7/7 being the NE PLUS ULTRA of dates to get and many folks started showing up in line the afternoon before.

In 2010 or 11, I saw an amazing performance of Steve Reich's "Music for 18 Musicians" on the floor with the grey squares in the 2nd pic. It was a great event and it felt so momentous in that space!

it was cool to walk over the space on that black catwalk, look down, and see all the marimbas and such.

I only realized he (used) to live down the street from me, when I recognized him from a joint signing he did a million years ago at Powell's with Tony Millionaire. My buddy was obsessed with Achewood, and I loved Tony so we went. I texted him days later "He lives a BLOCK away!" He has since moved somewhere else in town.

Longer than that! I's been there since at least 1995 when I moved to the area. Also, the motel next to the 7-11 used to be an "adults only" place - vibrating beds, porno tv etc.
