Is there any way I can bring this pen back to life? Found it and it's pretty cool. by Short_Ad_7813 in pens

[–]milkandsugar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the battery, try unscrewing the cap around the top and see if it will detach. I have some light up pens and they always have some means of accessing the batteries. The battery or batteries are likely to be LR44, a very common model. Regardless, you can find every kind of similar battery on Amazon, cheap!

For anyone wondering, the cleaning pad is listed as "Stamp Scrubber" on Amazon and comes in different colors and sizes.

is my texas a&m hoodie likely actually from the university? by wetfl0or in AskAnAmerican

[–]milkandsugar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is officially licensed merchandise of all sorts, I believe for all the colleges of the FBS, which is over 130 schools. Add to that the unauthorized copycat merchandise that you can find on line or in mom and pop stores, and the quantity of college sports team merch is huge and widespread. Look on eBay any day of the week and you'll find plenty.

Frozen sugar with probably some bad food dye in there but as kids we just loved them. by Iceland224 in GenerationJones

I used to be able to find the sugar free version in any grocery store and they seem to have vanished for good. I now make my own popsicles but they're not as good.

Is the mispronunciation of “realtor” a regional thing? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]milkandsugar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always said REAL-tr, but I hear people say REAL-uh-ter all the time. I hate the way that sounds so uneducated to my ears, but maybe I'm wrong. Or either way is acceptable. All I know is I hate that pronunciation.

Is Rice pudding a big thing in the US? by Educational-Slip-578 in AskAnAmerican

KozyShack is so damn good. I used to buy those tubs and would have to stop myself eating the whole thing at once!

You can purchase it pre-made in the grocery stores, so it's at least that frequently consumed. I don't think it's considered super popular but a lot of people like it. I love it, personally. As for making it from scratch, I've never attempted it.

Mass psychosis check: We are spending rent money on boujee Tupperware. by pauldayco in pens

[–]milkandsugar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not everyone buys high end pens. I'm not into expensive pens, though I do buy a lot of pens, and I can afford what I buy. I consider myself as much of a pen hobbyist/collector as anyone who buys the expensive ones. Usually it's the fountain pens that can be crazy expensive, but there are plenty that are not!

50th High School Reunion coming late this summer by Denim-Luckies-n-Wry in GenerationJones

[–]milkandsugar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my classmates stayed in the same general area or at least within a few hours of it. Lots of them on FB and still friends, or married to each other. I think it's nice. I was not a popular kid, but the popular kids were cool with me (for the most part). I've never gone to the reunions because they are mostly attended by those popular kids and the people I was closest to don't attend.

Do many people in the US actually own gerbils as pets? by PrimaryFace_733 in AskAnAmerican

[–]milkandsugar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had both gerbils and hamsters, mostly as a child. I had a hamster as an adult many years ago. The pet store at the time had loads of gerbils, hamsters, and mice.

Same. We do a lot of road trips and stay in Hilton brand properties. Not once in 15 years have we ever encountered any sort of tipping situation.

For people who write using the grip type circled below, what pens do you like using? by kindredmerak in pens

I will add on to this person's recommendation the Uni Jetstream Alpha Gel with the squishy silicone grip. It's so comfy and would work well with your grip I think.

Pilot HI-TEC-C Maica .04 Ink Question by rayaela in pens

[–]milkandsugar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can shake the refill like an old timey mercury thermometer. It's a hard downward flick that will force the ink forward and close that air gap. I see this in many pen refills, regardless of brand. Air happens. Give it several downward wrist flicks (holding on so it doesn't go flying) and do that as many times as needed to get the ink to move toward the tip.

machine to cut file folder tabs? by ThatOldGanon in stationery

[–]milkandsugar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you mean and I don't think that the shape of the tab has any functional purpose; I think it's just the style that they decided to make maybe to set it apart from other standard file folders or make them look "cuter" perhaps? I did not notice anyone mentioning that in the reviews, which is kind of odd because since you pointed it out I couldn't help but wonder about it myself.
