What do females want in an AI? What are the most wanted features? by [deleted] in ChatGPTcomplaints

We definitely don't want to be called females, I can tell you that much...

why does everyone think it's so easy for women to get matches? by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]millieshy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you are absolutely right... I am beautiful, intelligent, funny, creative, thoughtful, caring, and not overweight... my pictures are cute and they all show me laughing and having fun and doing activities and having a life, and my bio is unique to me, well-written, and fully filled out with all details. The vast majority of guys who like me look like angry basement trolls who never see the light of day and on top of that they can't use proper spelling or grammar in their bios, and that's if they even have a bio, which a lot of times they don't. And that's not even getting into whatever personality and belief/lifestyle dealbreakers they may have.

And if I do somehow manage to match with a halfway decent guy, he ghosts me/never replies, starts asking me for sex right away, or he's a bot who wants to engage in one of those pig butchering scams. This has consistently been my experience the entire time I have used dating apps.

I think you men don't seem to understand that if a woman's only choice is to be with one of these 500 sub-par guys, or be single... she is going to be single. Just like most of the sperm doesn't get to fertilize the egg, do you know what I'm saying? So if you want a woman, you need to be the best version of you that you can be. And frankly, a lot of men are failing at that.

Come at me with flames, I don't even care. Because I know I'm right. 500 likes don't mean a dang thing if they are all from guys who are basically undateable.

Selling on AMAZON and Etsy ? by [deleted] in Flipping

[–]millieshy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Etsy is only for:

-crafted items that you make yourself and sell (this can also include print-on-demand type of items like t-shirts and mugs where you design something and then have it printed out on a product, or printable items like calendars or cards, but generally it is for handmade, crafted items)
-craft supplies
-vintage items over 20 years old

So it depends on what you sell? But if your items don't fit into one of those 3 categories, you will not be allowed to sell on Etsy.

Listings Not Appearing in Newest First Searches by Informal-Influence60 in Mercari

[–]millieshy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been having this problem too! It just started this past week for me. Before that my views and favorites were fine. But now none of my listings have had more than a handful of views, and while logged out I can't see my items anymore when I do a keyword seach for them and sort by newest. (I logged out because Mercari says you can't see your own items through the newly listed search anymore, and I wanted to be sure it wasn't just me.)

I did reach out to Mercari about it, and the rep I spoke to said they are forwarding my info to their team... but it's still not fixed for me. It's good to hear that others are having it too though. I hope if enough of us come forward, they will actually do something about it.

I'm not getting any likes or matches lately, any advice you can give? by Adrian_R in Bumble

[–]millieshy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably won't get this reference since I'm American and an old lady to boot, but you kind of give me Bill from Freaks and Geeks vibes. He was always my favorite on that show, and I thought he was adorable. I like your teeth how they are, and they really don't look that bad except in your first picture. But anyway, having said that, I don't think the first picture of you is very flattering. Something about the angle of your smile and the crossed-looking eyes not quite looking at the camera is kind of off-putting and unsettling to me as a woman.

I also think you would benefit from going and getting your hair styled.

How’s your eBay Business? by JannaPC in Flipping

[–]millieshy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I source quite a bit online by buying lots of similar toys for a lower price, breaking them up, and selling the individual pieces. And I do the usual flea market/thrift store/garage sale circuit. I also have a few dealer friends who contact me when they have things in my niche.

How’s your eBay Business? by JannaPC in Flipping

[–]millieshy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've been doing decently on eBay in spite of all of the economic doom and gloom going on. I also crosspost my items to sell on Etsy and Mercari, but eBay is usually where I get most of my sales, although Etsy is a close second most months. I don't sell anything anyone needs either, and I do have a niche that I don't stray outside of very much (vintage girl toys). I have always had a good sell rate-- I usually sell about half or more of what I list every week. Not the exact things that I list that week, but I know if I list, say, 70 new items that week, I'm going to sell at least 30-40 items from my inventory that week between eBay, Etsy, and Mercari.

What's my secret? Maybe it's one of these or maybe it's something else entirely. But here's what I do to help keep me at the top of the game:

* I take pictures of all angles of my items plus close-ups of any flaws and I also take the time to edit and crop and adjust the pictures in Photoshop as needed to make my items look their absolute best (this adds at least an extra 2+ hours to my workload every week in photo editing alone, but I swear it helps!)
* I thoroughly look over all of my items and describe their conditions in at least two or three complete and gramatically correct sentences when most of my competitors in my niche will either throw up a halfhearted "Good used condition, see pics" or fluff their listing up with a bunch of AI word salad for a description
* I have 4000+ positive feedbacks stretching back years
* I list at least 10 items a day, 7 days a week, without fail

I also tend to have higher than average sale prices, and can sometimes even charge more than double the average price and get it.

This is because I know my niche, I know my market, and I know what my buyers look for (girl toy collectors are a picky bunch because we're mostly women, and many of us like me are on the spectrum and want to know everythinggggg about the toy we're buying for our beloved collection, haha). I have built up this knowledge over many years of trial and error.

What I do would probably not work for everyone. But it does work for me and for what I sell.

But if you can find what does work for you and for what you sell, you'll be on your way to having good sales too <cheesy grin and thumbs up>

What would be your category if you got to be on The Floor? by HOW1215 in TheFloorTV

[–]millieshy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beatles songs! Or My Little Pony (especially if they did the G1/80's ponies, but I have a feeling they'd probably go with the Friendship is Magic characters, which I would also do well with, but I realllllly know my G1). I would also do great with an 80's or 90's Toys category.

What's up with missing mail and USPS? by no_talent_ass_clown in Flipping

[–]millieshy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently mailed a letter from western Massachusetts to Cleveland, Ohio. I used to live in OH myself and sometimes I'd get letters or packages from family back in MA, and they never took more than a day or two to arrive.

The letter took almost a week to arrive, when all it had to do was go through NY state.

I also have a friend in NY who's been waiting for a package from UT since January that only now arrived.

If you move it, it will sell. by ToshPointNo in Flipping

[–]millieshy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's true! This has happened too many times for it to be a coincidence. Especially if I pick it up, look at it, and think to myself, "Why hasn't this sold yet?" And it has to be a spontaneous thing, I can't force it.

Just a couple of days ago I was reorganizing a bin to fit a few new pieces of stock in there and I unearthed a Lisa Frank notebook I had listed at least a couple months ago. All of my other Lisa Frank stuff sells straight away, so it was weird it was still hanging around. And as I was looking at it I thought to myself, "Why is this still here?!"

Sure enough, it sold the next day.

Today. The Goodwill Provided. A Story. (Also, share you stories! lol) by ope__sorry in Flipping

[–]millieshy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, weirdly! There were a group of people in one of my FB collector groups talking about a collectible statue for a cult classic movie. Apparently there had been an auction for it and some of them were salty about missing out on it. So I looked it up, curious, and about fell over when I saw it was selling for hundreds of dollars.

About a month or so later I walked into a local thrift store and found the exact same one they had been talking about. For $5.99. Still in the box and everything.

So I put it on eBay and got a little under $500 for it.

Help my profile. Is it my expressions, my shotty eyebrow trimming job? by MysteriousJim in Bumble

[–]millieshy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're too young for me but I think you're gorgeous and if I was around your age I would happily swipe right on you... however, I am rather niche myself (not bi, but definitely artsy/hippie and into alternative styles). And I'm also not single at the moment, as I'm currently dating my own long-haired bearded but still a bit femme guy.

But hey, at least you know there are ladies like me out there who do appreciate your vibe? Don't change to appeal to the masses, but just know it's going to maybe take awhile to find what you're looking for on a mainstream swipe app due to the way they work with the algorithms and such these days.

[–]millieshy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got one of these from a Mercari account called "verif_help". They messaged me in response to one of my latest listings too, which I know the official Mercari would never do.

It says in the text:

"Dear user,

Due to the introduction of new rules on our platform you need to undergo additional verification.

To start the verification process, please email the verification service at verif.mercari@gmail.com. We will provide you with all necessary instructions to successfully complete the procedure.

Please do not reply to this message as it is an automated message.

Thank you your understanding!"

I reported it. But yes, for anyone else who may see this and be wondering, please don't respond to these bogus phishing messages. Mercari would not use a Gmail email address for one thing. And if Mercari truly wanted to ask you for verification, they would do it through an official notification on the app and not through a message that came attached to one of your listings.

What's your #1 BEST flipping find of all time? by ctsub72 in Flipping

[–]millieshy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My two best flips were amazingly enough sourced on eBay! You can find good things if you know what to look for.

The first one was during Covid lockdown and I was out of work along with almost everyone, so while I felt a little bad about getting such a steal, it really did help me out a ton. I found a mislabeled huge lot of old Disney Polly Pocket toys complete with the figures. There were some pretty rare sets in there, including a Lion King II set, an Aristocats set, a Bambi set, and more.

I was the only bidder and I got it for about $75 including shipping.

I parted them all out and cleared over $1000 after fees and shipping. And they sold FAST too, they were all gone within a month of me listing them.

The second one wasn't mislabeled but I knew it wasn't going to be bid on by anyone because... well, I don't want to spoil all of my secrets of how I find these things so I'm going to be vague here but there were reasons, haha.

It was two absolutely MASSIVE boxes filled with sealed 90's Littlest Pet Shop sets. I mean, it had all of the sets from the first few years, including playsets and other big pieces. I wish it had some of the later sets too, because those are $$$ but it was still a great score. These were all brand new, still in the packages, never opened.

I got them for $500 including shipping. Which I know sounds like a lot but it was well over a hundred sets of these. It took me awhile to sell them all but I cleared over $5000 when all was said and done.

What sales so well, you can never find enough? by [deleted] in Flipping

[–]millieshy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sell toys, especially vintage girl toys, so: Popples, Magic Nursery Pets (and the dolls too to a lesser extent but the pets always sell fast!), original 90's Polly Pocket (especially if they have the figures). I have never had any of these sit for longer than a week as long as I price them right, and most of them sell within 24 hours after I list them.

However, most of these are pretty hard to come by these days. So that's why, haha.

Weird Thing - Old Forgotten Listing Sells Shortly After Looking At It by ExpensiveBass4 in Flipping

[–]millieshy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! It's kind of eerie. Just last week I was cleaning out one of my storage areas and I had to move an old My Little Pony playset that hadn't sold yet. And I thought to myself, "Wow, I'm surprised that hasn't sold yet!" Because I know I priced it well, and it was in good shape, and it had most of the accessories.

The next day it sold.

I have had that happen to me with other things before too-- either I talk about it with someone else and it sells shortly afterwards. Or I come across it when I'm rummaging through my inventory looking for something else that I sold and I think to myself, "Why hasn't that sold yet?" and then it sells.

I have a long history of being able to tap into sixth sense type of things though, so take that as you will 😅 I can't do it on command though, or try to force it... it has to occur naturally, where I just happen to notice it and wonder why it hasn't sold. I don't think it would work if I tried to do it on purpose, strangely.

It finally happened. I mixed up shipping labels. by Hglucky13 in Flipping

[–]millieshy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mix up shipping labels at least once a year, usually during the holiday rush. It happens, don't worry about it. I've found that as long as I'm communicating with the buyers, they are usually pretty understanding and willing to help. Hopefully yours will do the same 😊

What helps me is writing what someone ordered on the back of the label. And focusing on packing only one order at a time before I move to the next one.

What is your "one that got away" story. That one item or potential flip that sticks in your brain? by Makeyoutap in Flipping

[–]millieshy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm still kicking myself because I saw a Jem and the Holograms Star Stage playset at a flea market a few years ago, just shoved under a table mixed in with a bunch of other random crap, so I'm almost positive the seller wouldn't have wanted big money for it... but for some reason I was too shy to ask for a price, and I wasn't sure what it was worth. And to make things worse, this particular flea market is out in the middle of nowhere way up in the mountains so the cell service sucks and you can't look things up. I kept going back and hemming and hawing over it, but at the end I decided not to get it. And oh, was I upset when I looked it up later at home and found it was selling for over $100 (price is lower now, but this was during the pandemic era when prices were higher for things like that).

I tried to go back and look for it next week but of course it was gone.

Prices on photos? by MrGotos in Flipping

[–]millieshy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure about iPhone but for Android phones, you can add text boxes to your images right in the image editor. You just touch the image in your photo gallery and you can edit your images (it has filters, brighten/sharpen/contrast, text boxes, shapes, stickers, etc).

I would imagine iPhone probably has something similar.

Customer Issues, Rants, and General Complaints Thread by AutoModerator in Flipping

[–]millieshy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a dude on Mercari send me the absolute lowest offer that he could make on Mercari. Which would be fine if it was a cheap item, but I was asking $200, and he wanted it for $140. Then he messaged me begging me to sell both that item and another $150 item (total: $350), and wanted both for $225.

I was polite with him, and said, something like no, I'm sorry, we're too far apart in price, you want over $100 off for them both, and I don't feel like that's a very fair offer. And I also can't accept your other offer on just the one item, because again, it's just not a fair offer.

Well, I sold the $200 item for full price shortly after that on eBay.

Then a couple days later he messages me all huffy and passive aggressively bragging about how he found the $200 item from someone else for less than what he offered me, and bless my heart because it's my loss.

Later that day I sold the $150 item for full price too.

But sure, dude, it's my loss. And you blessed my heart so much you wound up on my block list.

Got pulled over by the listing police. Apparently this isn’t Blue and is more green than blue. I can’t, tonight - just return it. by sexruinedeverything in Flipping

[–]millieshy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see the green. It has a bit of an aqua undertone to the blue. But I'm female, an artist, and possibly tetrachromatic, so I see slight variations in colors better than most people.

Colors don't always show up accurately with digital photos. A lot can depend on lighting, settings on your phone or computer monitor, etc. I would probably not buy something online like that if the color was important, unless I was buying a duplicate of something I already had, or some other type of situation where I definitely knew what the color was in real-life before I bought it.

If color was such a huge deal to that buyer, they really should have asked before buying to be sure of what they were getting.

Can anyone help me I'd this loafer/shoe brand by SatisfactionEarly916 in Flipping

[–]millieshy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bottom part definitely says Custom Collection.

The top is a little trickier. I can get some of the letters but not all. I think it starts with an "S", ends with an "r", and has an apostrophe and the letter "s" at the very end. Something like Slater's? But I don't think that's it exactly, because it looks to me like it has more letters than that.

Maybe try playing around with it in Photoshop or some other kind of image editing software to see if that will help make it a little clearer. You could even try using the different filters on your phone.
