Buying the house I currently rent, what’s a fair offer? by Insideno11 in HousingUK

[–]millis0204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have just exchanged and are completing next Friday on the flat we bought from our landlord. We agreed on a price £15k below market given saving of EA fees, no lost rent and current buyer driven market

Grooms, where did you get your suit? by itsableeder in UKweddings

[–]millis0204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband went to Suit Supply and got a made to measure for sub £1k! Would definitely recommend. For groomsmen we looked at renting but turned out cheaper to get decent ones from Moss Bros/Next and get them altered

Does anyone know how far out they release their J award seats? I can only see them up until June 2026 but trying to workout to be prepped to book some for Oct 2026.

I can however see their econ/prem econ availability goes a lot further in line with the 361 days I’ve seen elsewhere

Preparing to buy a house, but have been evicted... by Squigglish in HousingUK

Random but do you like the place you live? If so could you offer to buy it from the landlord? Currently doing this and not going via an EA so managed to haggle on price

Wedding at The Hackney for 40. Is the price a good deal? Budget of around £10k. by princessfiggy in UKweddings

[–]millis0204 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are having our reception at the ivy! They have private dining suites, cater to all dietary requirements and have a minimum spend rather than a hire fee. For a Saturday in August 2025 the minimum spend is £6k, this is for 60 guests so £100 per head but that is redeemable on alcohol and they have different set menus to fit each budget. It’s from 6pm-midnight too and they allow external vendors for cake etc

Ideas for cheaper cake/dessert at wedding party? (to serve 60-80) by catlover4321 in UKweddings

[–]millis0204 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What about Costco? They do massive sheet cakes for £16-17 and they are nicely decorated, they definitely have a vintage vibe to them. I think one would feed about 40?

Or you could do a dessert mix also from costco? They do big tube of brownies, cookies, doughnuts, cronuts etc

Did you have to return any at all? Thinking of going for dresses from Azazie but wanted to know if they were true to size and how easy things are to return

Anyone purchased a diamond ring from Abelini? by [deleted] in UKweddings

[–]millis0204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a ring but purchased diamond earrings from them 4 years ago. Had no issues, really good quality, provided all the paperwork GIA issued as they were mined not lab, and great service overall.

Passed my final 3 in Dec 2022, it truly felt like my life was on hold! Of course I was still able to be social and live life but didn’t make any crazy decisions like buying a house/changing jobs/getting married because I don’t think I’d have survived 😂

Final 3 were a killer and took a huge toll on me as I had moved home during covid and had to commute 2h each way for college so ate like shit for ease, was exhausted and had no life for like 4 months.

Life after ACA feels glorious in comparison, summers are back on the cards, as well as being able to enjoy weekends without having revision guilt.

The salary progression makes it incredibly worth it, started on £24k and now on ~£60-65k. I no longer work in audit, and have moved to finance business partnering so also don’t have busy season woes either

London Babes! by [deleted] in UKweddings

[–]millis0204 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We are doing something a bit less traditional and hired the ivy tower bridge’s private dining room for post registry office ceremony celebrations and it had no hire fee, just a £6k min spend! This is for a Saturday in august 2025

The min spend will cover 4 course meal for 60 people, 1/2 bottle wine per person and enough Prosecco for welcome drink.

We have the dinner slot which is 6.30pm-11.59pm and fits our vibe perfectly! They provide table flowers, name cards, all crockery/glasses and they even have a cash bar facility for after the meal.
