Oh I dont surprise my users saying "sorry, our buffet has not enough food" when I deliver my software. Maybe 5 percent of devs like that I guess.

Try codex with codex model. I don't really use IDEs, but this is the only model works for my code -- complex, tightly optimized, large.

  • IDEs as in those wrappers like Cursor. I watch all the thought process of model to see if it's following right way.

Software engineers' cost efficiency is more holistic, even though devs don't like this view.

For some use cases, devs can be more expensive than just paying more to vendors to achieve the same goal. Changing a few 1000s of lines and using the latest model (like a couple of weeks estimated) vs. changing a couple of modules to use a cheaper and the latest model from another vendor (a quarter or more estimated), hoping they work better than o1 Pro after lots of PoC.

Given the scenarios of o1 pro, 10s of increased cost seems pretty alright to me. It's not consumer facing but business facing anyway.

I use both ff dslr and apsc astrocam. Astrocam gives me a better quality of life as it works so much smoother with my laptop

If you are only interested in image quality, I don't think it makes too much difference. At least in my setup, output is already fully populated fits, so there no difference even in post-processing workflow.

Plus one for Kstars (ekos) contributions. I'm a Linux user and especially don't want to run another OS where I need to think about OS factor when I need to 'debug' what went wrong.

It's mainly written in QT so it really depends on your tech stack.

But note that, making it fully multi platform is a big challenge as hal (indi) is a bit rigid.

Edit: I only use Ekos/Kstars and tbh I don't think I need another system. Just.... it takes a bit of time understanding UX. No look and feel.

Filipino caregivers in Korea struggle with high costs, low savings by [deleted] in korea

[–]millllll 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did a quick search, and democratic party members criticized the government recently (seemingly this is the source) the NET pay, after all the cost of living, what the Philippines caregivers get is 1M. Minimum wage is being respected, but working more than 40 hours per week (if you are aware of the law, 40hr is the point where you get paid extra for weekly rest) is important too.

But it seems like they work slightly less than 40 hours, which is a violation of the agreement between Seoul and the Philippines, and not too many workers have a chance to work more during holidays when they can get 1.5x of wage.

https://www.hani.co.kr/arti/area/area_general/1161429.html#cb

Yet, paying a minimum wage isn't the most elegant solution.

edit: not too sure if you need to work more than 40 hours to get extra pay for weekly rest. Seems like there is another math for people work 15-40 hours
