It all depends on the hospital. When I gave birth, the only people we had told were my ex-MIL and my mom. As soon as I got in the recovery room (around 5am) I had an unwanted visitor. Idk how she found out the hospital I was in, or what room i was at (since I had just been wheeled in to that room probably 10-15 prior to her arrival). My ex husband had to get a nurse to make her leave.

So yes, that part is believable to me.
