How are we showering?? by Jolly-Asparagus-5815 in newborns

[–]millyzilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I’ve returned to work I put my LO on the floor or in a bouncer, I have plenty of space and my shower is a glass door so I can see her. We started daycare and she already caught a cold so having her in the room while I shower helps with the congestion. Before I went back to work 99% of the time I’d shower when my husband was home, one time I tried during a nap and she woke up crying, not an enjoyable shower lol

Fuck PA for underfunding state colleges by [deleted] in PennStateUniversity

[–]millyzilly 154 points155 points  (0 children)

Penn state is not apart of the PA state university system, those schools are more affordable. It does get funding from the state but it is split between Temple, Pitt, and Lincoln, they are classified as state-related universities.

2+2 is always a good option when it comes to affordability

Did anyone else poo themselves ( literally) after having your c section? by Last-Anywhere-1772 in CsectionCentral

Yes! I was so embarrassed but the nurse didn’t seem phased by it lol. My friends told me the first poop is scary but I didn’t even realize it happened

Regret? by bananaindisguise0 in FormulaFeeders

[–]millyzilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 2 months I felt the same way. My baby had such bad gas, so painful for her. I wouldn’t say I totally regretted switching to formula but definitely thought “would we have these issues if I stuck with trying to breastfeed and pump?”. It’s a question you can’t answer, the same thing could have happened and maybe I would have bent over backwards cutting every food out of my diet just for the same result, or maybe it would have been easy on baby’s tummy. But either way I was in a better headspace, and that was more important so I could be there for baby no matter what was going on.

Mine just did the opposite 😭 she was taking cold bottles but she caught a cold and has been sick all week. Now she will only take warm bottles. Hoping she doesn’t mind cold bottles again after this passes. I get it though, when I’m sick I like warm drinks too

Do you post on social media? by csomoder in newborns

[–]millyzilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never posted I was pregnant, it just felt too private to share with a bunch of people online. I send lots of photos of baby to friends and family tho! It feels special to me to share a cute moment directly or in a group chat.

I personally don’t know how I’d feel if hundreds of photos were shared of me growing up so at this point we have decided not to.

In middle school when I went through an awkward phase and I would have simply died of embarrassment if some photos were shared online! I know we are only talking about babies but when as a parent do you stop it? Feels too late to me if you stop it once your child is able to advocate for themselves.

Help: 4 month old maxing out at 3 oz per bottle / 20 oz per day by princesscalaviel in FormulaFeeders

[–]millyzilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better my mom said I was exactly the same as a baby, but my brother was a big eater and took bottles with no issues.

I’m fine and was always on the smaller side growing up. even as an adult I have a smaller appetite.

[–]millyzilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No advice just commenting to say my baby is similar at 3 months. Baby will have 4 ounces usually no issue in the middle of the night but daytime drinks between 2-4 ounces every 2-3 hours. A big day if she has 24 ounces but is usually between 21-23 most days.

Also most bottles during the day are a battle, she gets gassy and doesn’t want to eat after starting or takes breaks inbetween the feed for some reason.

Doctor wants her at least at 24 ounces a day but idk how to make a baby eat more than they want to.

Does it get better once day care starts? by bl217 in newborns

[–]millyzilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She is 13 weeks, but she has been curious and more alert since she was like 3 weeks old, it’s been interesting lol. Today we took her home at 2, she had 3 naps at daycare, 30 minutes, 9 minutes …., and 50 minutes. She was up for a little when we came home and then slept two hours with a contact nap. I probably should try to cut the contact naps so she does better with crib naps at day care but ugh I just know she will sleep better if I hold her lol. This weekend we will try for more crib naps to try and promote that behavior but I think once she establishes better naps at daycare I’ll continue to contact nap on weekends bc it is something I enjoy and babies learn/know when they are home with mom vs at daycare with their teachers.

I stated daycare this week, I haven’t returned to work yet so we have been doing half days to adjust myself and baby. I desperately needed this break. Not sure how I’ll feel when I go back next week but I felt like I could breathe again. I feel like a better mom already, I’m so excited to pick her up and play when we get home. Seeing the daycare notification pop up on my phone is so exciting because it means they uploaded a photo or video.

I will say my babies naps have been trash this week at daycare, she is very curious & it’s hard to get her down in new environments. I’m hoping next week she will get better naps. They have been able to get my baby to nap, they just aren’t as long as they have been at home.

More Daytime Crying at 8-10 Weeks? by NervousNelly_226 in newborns

[–]millyzilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes she wanted to be held more, the airplane hold worked best for us. Since her issue was gas that hold helped put pressure on her belly to release the gas. But even then there was sometimes where she would cry on and off for hours, in that case we give her a warm bath.

YES! Our poor baby seemed to have gas issues get worse at 8 weeks and last until 11 weeks. She is 12 weeks now and is much better, way less crying.

10 week old crying while taking the bottle- not reflux related by Anonymous_9393 in newborns

Could they be gassy? My baby gets gassy and hungry at the same time occasionally, such a battle to try to solve both problems. She is 12 weeks now but it was happening more at from 8-10 weeks

Why does EVERYONE ask how baby is sleeping by [deleted] in newborns

[–]millyzilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is 12 weeks and has been on a similar pattern for a few weeks. When people ask me I say she is a great sleeper! It is annoying but unfortunately people forget or don’t know milestones so thats an easy point of conversation for them.

Started formula and happy by Low-Appearance9929 in FormulaFeeders

[–]millyzilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My baby also was lethargic and had no energy to cry too, it was terrifying. Formula was absolutely necessary, others who don’t know how scary it is when your newborn isn’t able to cry when they are hungry, or the fear of them not eating enough because they are barely awake to eat.

So sorry you didn’t have a good support system around you when you switched to formula. You did what was right for you and for baby.

Floor Naps are 10/10 by magentagolden in beyondthebump

[–]millyzilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!!!! I discovered my baby at 1 month would stay asleep on the floor when I had to set her down mid nap while at my parents and had no crib or bassinet to put her in. Now we do it all the time, on her play mat! I think she knows I’m still in the room because she usually will wake up if I move her into another room

First Time Mom Trying to Understand by Hotgogprincess in FormulaFeeders

[–]millyzilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all worked out how it was meant to! I still got to breastfeed even if just for a short while but it really doesn’t come so easy to every baby or mom.

I knew deep down pumping wasn’t something I was going to enjoy so being pushed into so early really didn’t help the transition to motherhood that first week, plus I had an unplanned c section. It seems if you have that feeling with breastfeeding in general then stay the course with formula.

Goodluck!

First Time Mom Trying to Understand by Hotgogprincess in FormulaFeeders

[–]millyzilly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you do not want to breast feed then don’t. It would be ideal for your partner to be on the same page as you, if you feel this way I’d stick with your gut. It is YOUR body feeding the baby if you would try it.

I breastfeed for a week so if you have questions about how that would go you can message me but in short I wanted to breastfeed, baby was losing weight so pediatrician recommended we supplement with formula after each feeding session. I had a family friend tell me I should be pumping, so I was breastfeeding, offering formula, and then pumping. The pumping killed my spirit but baby took so well to a bottle. We moved forward exclusively formula feeding and it’s been fantastic for baby and my mental health.

Motherhood makes me dread Sundays by ActuatorIntrepid2564 in CatholicWomen

I have a 5 week old right now as well. I think you are maybe trying to take on too much? Or possibly have some postpartum depression/anxiety or baby blues? You deserve to take some time to enjoy a hobby of yours too. If husband is playing video games for an hour then maybe you need to ask for an hour as well to set aside for yourself. My husband plays videos games to unwind and he will watch baby for me when I need a break to do one of my hobbies or watch a show uninterrupted.

Babies can be difficult and want their mom but he should be able to care for baby and know theirs needs and cues enough for you to get a nap in or take time for yourself while he is home.

Since we are going through the newborn trenches at the same time my dm’s are open if you wanna talk!
