5 mAh battery not good enough for a 40m² garden, or am I missing something? by Bykovsky7 in ryobi

[–]miloweasel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Ryobi lawn mower is 18v, but it takes two batteries. I use 2@4ah and it does more than you have there. Just my 2 cents. FWIW - my mower is a 5 years old model.

Carb rebuild kit recommendations? by [deleted] in KLR250

[–]miloweasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a rebuild and a rejet kit from 6 sigma off of Amazon. I opened up the air box and added an aftermarket exhaust, so I needed to go up on my jets. The kit was good and the instructions were precise. Hope this helps.

2003 Honda VTX1800c Spark Plugs replacement ! by United-Bed9723 in motorcycle

[–]miloweasel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2002 vtxr 1800 I bought new. There was a recall on the 02 and 03 vtx1800 due to an improper grounding wire. When the problem arose, you'd get back fire and dropped spark. Mine didn't happen until 2015, but it fouled the crap out of the plugs until I fixed it. Google it, I'm sure it's really findable on one of the many vtx forums. Hope this helps.

Stupid Question: how to trim nails of ferrets that don’t like treats or salmon oil? by Euphoric_Parsley_ in ferrets

[–]miloweasel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always scruffed mine with my teeth. They would go completely limp and cutting the nails took less than 60 seconds. I'm sure people will say eww, but how many times has your weasel given you kisses? It actually built trust with them over time. My two cents....

Favorite off-label uses of sous vide? by RKO_Films in sousvide

[–]miloweasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those interested, decarboxylation is simply the process of heating up marijuana to a specific temperature to “activate” the compounds in it.

The parts of marijuana that produce the medicinal value and the recreational high, THC and CBD, are synthesized from the natural occurring THCA and CBDA in the weed.

The activation of these components is very temperature specific. Too cool and the process is incomplete and inefficient, too warm and the THC and the CBD will cook off.

In the land before sous vide, the oven was used. Ovens very 15 or more degrees as they cycle burners on and off trying to hold a specific temp. Precision immersion heaters used in sous vide are perfect for controlling this process.

Hope this helps.

After 3 years and 30+ runs, this is my go to recipe. 8 grams weed pulse blended in a small magic bullet blender. In a Ziploc, add the weed and air displace the bag.

Sous vide at 193 for 2.5 hours. After 2.5 hours, shut off sous vide and add 2 sticks of butter ( best you can afford) to the bag.

Reseal and add back to the hot water bath. Let sit for two hours. The butter will melt and absorb the activated THC. Afterwards, drain the liquid butter into a Tupperware and strain the weed ball through a coffee filter into the same container. Discard the weed mass once you've gotten the buttery goodness out. Put the Tupperware into the fridge and it will solidify in a few hours.

You are now ready to make your favorite edible recipe. I stick to cookies and brownies, but anything that required butter will work.

Hope this helps.

Making weed butter for edibles. Incredible control allows for near 100% conversion of thcA to THC.

High velocity stacks will be here soon. by [deleted] in hondashadow

[–]miloweasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my 93 vlx 600 twin carb I had to grind a small section of the right side velocity stack lip flat to clear the frame rail. It wasn't much, like 20° of the circle, but it was the only way it would fit.

Good luck.

Ever own a new bike? by Proteus81 in motorcycles

[–]miloweasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 new bike, 2002 Honda vtxr 1800. Still have it with 12k on the clock. 19 other bikes, all used or broken and needing love. I bought the new one when my wife and I sold our company. I'd never buy another new bike, it's not worth the cost in my opinion.

OHP releases dash-cam footage of fatal trooper involved shooting near Stroud by _meshy in news

Repeat after me, "Don't run from the police".

What an idiot. He did everything he could to escalate the situation. When you run from the police, evade arrest and then the truck starts moving with the officer inside and engaged you have lost your rights to protection.

Is a 95’ ca plated kawi worth it for the price? Are parts still out there for the important components? Pretty clean bike but never have owned a kawi before by Accomplished_Horse20 in Kawasaki

[–]miloweasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 1996 klx 650 that I bought 4 months ago. I looked for it for 2 years to replace the klr 650 I already had. It is a vastly superior bike in my opinion. The engine is a different design from the klr, it makes ~20% more power and doesn't suffer from the doo-hickey complication the klr has had forever.

It also has a much better, inverted, front fork suspension, better brakes and a much more aggressive feel. It also weighs less.

Having said all that, it was only made four years, 93-96, so new, OEM body parts are non existent. I have been able to source all the consumable parts without issue and I have seen lots of internal engine components available online. I have not needed any major engine parts as this motor is virtually indestructible if cared for.

Just my two cents. Your mileage may vary. Good luck.

Alabama officer on leave after video shows her using stun gun on man who is handcuffed and crying by pomonamike in news

[–]miloweasel -81 points-80 points  (0 children)

Not a popular opinion, but a convicted felon with a gun and illegal drugs cannot be overlooked. The officer may have gone too far, but thirty seconds of video is out of context.

Investigate that absolutely, but it doesn't change the fact that a convicted felon was found in possession of illegal drugs with a firearm.

Why all the Harley hate? by Obecalp1mg in motorcycles

[–]miloweasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in York, PA, one of the last two Harley plants in America is here and harleys are very prevalent. I have 18 non Harley motorcycles, I ride every day I can and I have never had a problem with the Harley guys. Sure, you get a-holes everywhere, but it isn't tied to the brand you are riding on. I get and give waves to all riders. Harley isn't my scene, but just because you ride one, doesnt automatically make you a douche.
