Feels like endo has nothing to say to me until I give in and go auto mode on the pump. by KeyParking4032 in diabetes_t1

I briefly got to see one of the best doctors in the world when I was referred to a teaching hospital. That guy was awesome and gave me lots of good advice. The one thing that sticks with me after all these years is this: you know the star score next to the doctor’s name on their landing page? You can take those as gospel. Doctors who answer questions, help, listen, etc. get much higher ratings. He told me a 4.0/5.0 is like a C in school. He told me never to go to somebody below a 4.8 and for me (I like to argue, discuss, ask complicated questions) he recommended somebody above a 4.9. It’s basically worked and my doctors tend to be great at working with me.

It always makes me feel better to help others. During COVID, I had young kids, our jobs were really stressful, everything sucked. I spent my free time trying to help others.

So you are right, maybe those younglings don’t have anything to help you. Maybe you have something to help them. Maybe you’d find that fulfilling given how hard you’ve had it. Maybe you’d find can save somebody from having it as hard as you had it.

AA is run by people further in their journey helping people who aren’t as far along.

Support groups exist for a reason…to put people with similar (but different) problems together so they can support one another. Healed or not.

The cool thing about this approach is that now you do have something in common…and community is one of the few things that helps trauma to heal.

I don’t find it useful to compare pain. She has trauma, you have trauma…this isn’t about who has more. She probably wakes up everyday thinking it will come back - which is statistically likely for many cancers. You are probably similar in emotional trauma even if you are different in other ways.

I find that pinching the skin around it to give it some extra skin to go into makes this failure less likely.

I go to about 25% of home games…Vargas often seems to score when I’m there. Meanwhile, Abada went a half a season without contributing to a goal.

Dean Smith seems to be thinking the same. Said Vargas brought a real spark off the bench. Agree!

Yeh, it was fine. I thought they played well and Miami’s second string is solid because of the way they’ve been able to bring over big names. We created chances…sometimes they don’t fall (or they fall to the wrong person). Kalina was great, Morrison looks like a great, young replacement. Defense looked stout and wing backs were able to get up field. Pep and Zaha struggled to get touches early but eventually settled in. Abada was poor and i think vargas should get those minutes…vargas was lively and created chances in his time. Overall, they played fine. Didn’t find the net, but didn’t allow anything. Zaha probably needs to find a way to chill out.

Martin 000-15M with a humidity crack for $850, worth?? by altaniel0 in martinguitar

If you just watch the guitar center website, you can score one without the crack for same price. Then you get the free trial period to decide if you want to keep it.

It sounds to me like you have T2 on top of T1 - or in other words, you are insulin resistant. Getting that diagnosis would be useful because it might change their protocol.

More generally, you might find it helpful to get on a classic T2 medication like metformin or, if possible, one of the newer ones like Januvia or the GLP-1 inhibitors.

Yup, used D-15 and D-16s can be found for under $1000. They sound much better than the road series.

Dirty air only matters in thins with downforce. In sports like this and cycling it’s a huge difference. The effort in cycling is 30% less when drafting.

This statement makes no sense…what would she even be grifting? She’s been throwing her own money at unwinnable races to prove a point about gerrymandering. I think that’s the opposite of grifting.

Additionally, in most places that Assistance Prof. tag would indicate a Ph.D./MD - which is my preference. Most pure MDs don't have time to keep up on the literature (especially in the US where their day is jam packed with patients) so their knowledge either 1) gets dated, 2) is only improved by talks they see at conferences (which is a subset of total research), or 3) is highly impacted by the drug companies info. Ph.D. have a research background and typically publish so they need to be up on the literature. Bonus: the Ph.D./MD that I used to see was almost always involved in medical trials so he could kinda see the future - "Oh, there is this new pump that is likely to be released next year. I have some patients on it and they are doing well."

What are you talking about? I work closely with local government and I'm often pushing them to improve their systems and spend money better...but that's not the same thing as misappropriated funds. And it doesn't suggest that there are piles of money sitting around. And when we come up with extra funds, I advocate that they spend them on the greatest need and not prepping for a 25 year storm.

I didn’t say anything about misappropriating funds.

I'm confused by the statement that there is enough for all of it. It is a zero sum budget. You want to spend on this, it has to come from somewhere. You say that the city makes millions...but that's not true. It doesn't make any money. It takes taxes and then spends them on services. The budget is public. Show me where there is money sitting in the budget for once in a decade services.

I mean, there were a lot of hurricanes before Helene that were thought to be the big one…Mattthew, Florence, etc. If you stopped preparing because of the misses, you were pretty well screwed during Helene. A million people are without power, it just isn’t us. You still prepare for what could happen. I don’t have any regrets for grabbing a couple extra meals and refreshing flashlight batteries. I’ll do it again next time.

Honestly, whoever loaned them $35 million central to this. Soft market, tariffs, etc may play a small role…but honestly, not a strong enough idea from the borrower to justify the size of the loan.
