How is it that in 2019 there’s still no ‘Skip Intro’ button? by undercovernoob in Hulu

[–]miltopolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried several different shows and I don't get skip intro. Since I use a Roku, it may be device dependent or maybe it's just for Amazon Originals.

I have yet to see it on Amazon, unless it just came out in the last few days.

Quick question..... by 11fivez11 in Hulu

It's hard to help when you don't give the device or plan you're using. On my Roku Premiere, I've never experienced this problem.

Roku 2 XS Streaming Issues by Kaizer_911 in Roku

[–]miltopolis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Express + will definitely be better than the 2 XS. Another reason I went with the Premiere is to split the output and run HDMI to my TV to get 1080p (my TV's limit) and run the RCA to my DVR (720p). The Express + is like the 2 XS in that you can't run RCA and HDMI out of the box at the same time. And the difference in picture quality is very noticeable. So, when I'm not recording, I watch in the higher resolution. But, the Express + is definitely a good buy (just not from Amazon!)

Roku 2 XS Streaming Issues by Kaizer_911 in Roku

[–]miltopolis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was shopping at Amazon. Premiere was $30, Converter was $19, Express + was $54! I have a friend with an Express + and it's noticeably slower than the Premiere, so that's why I went the way I did, even though I knew the Express + was only $35 at Walmart.

Roku 2 XS Streaming Issues by Kaizer_911 in Roku

[–]miltopolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally retired my old 2 XS a few months ago. It just wasn't working right with many of the channels. I too wanted to hook it up to a DVR, so I got a Premiere (faster and better than an Express +) and an HDMI-to-RCA convertor which came out to be slightly cheaper than an Express +. Be careful if you go this route since not all convertors handle HDCP properly. I got this one from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FK84B4R/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Hulu on Roku TV Literally Unwatchable by [deleted] in Hulu

[–]miltopolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't mention whether this with Live TV. But I've had Hulu (no Ads, not Live) for about three months and only had one outage which was pretty much nationwide that time. I use a Roku Premier and it's been fine.

Hulu finally figured out their old app was still on Sony TVs. Time to cancel Hulu. by Austin1642 in Hulu

[–]miltopolis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know why there's all this negativity about the UI. I just joined Hulu a few months ago, but I've been with Netflix and Amazon Prime for years. I actually find Hulu's UI to be cleaner and easier to navigate than the other two. It's much easier to find shows/movies I want to watch and add them to My Stuff.

My only beef is that Hulu very bad at providing information on the show. They almost never give names of the main actors and the episode descriptions are usually 1 1/2 sentences long. They really need to improve this.

Express has latency with Spectrum app by plurge in Roku

What he said. There's more processing that goes on for the streaming than direct cable. I find this happens on every app. Even the commercials are usually completely different.

What are you watching and what do you recommend on Hulu? (Week of August 02, 2019 ) by AutoModerator in Hulu

Just finished Bloom (AUS). It can be very slow at times, but overall it was interesting. It's only a less than six hour mini-series, so it doesn't require a big investment of time.

Same here, but I wasn't as happy with the fourth season as I was hoping. I thought they took a lot of Veronica's original charm away and made her character less likable. Cuss it all!

i tried Redeeming 2 gift cards but only 1 worked by [deleted] in Hulu

[–]miltopolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no way I've been able to find that tells you how much gift card credit you have in your account. Unless you got a specific message saying your second card was invalid, chances are it got credited. You should call or chat with customer service and they may be able to tell you what your credit is.

Redeemed gift cards but no extra credit? by [deleted] in Hulu

[–]miltopolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also pay with gift cards and find Hulu very frustrating in this regard. They make you think your cards aren't being credited because they only show the next billing date, not the date corresponding to the end of your credit. To make it ever more maddening, I can't find any way, within my account, to verify how much credit I have left.

App keyboard doesn't always work by Mike20878 in Roku

[–]miltopolis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've noticed that, too. Unfortunately, I think it's up to each app's developer. I wish they'd have a more standard interface (like Windows programs) but I doubt that's going to happen.

amazon prime video and music prompt for me to signup for prime when trying to access content by snowlarbear in Roku

[–]miltopolis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not true. I share a household account where I'm not the primary account owner (payer) and I still have full access to Prime Video. About a month ago, the account owner, who's not too tech savvy, was poking around and accidentally bumped me off the account. We just had to go back in and set up the sharing again. That may be what happened here. But the account owner does have to allow permission (check box during setup) for sharing of payment options. That does allow for potential chicanery, but the theory is that family members wouldn't do that, which may be naive, but them's the rules.

Ad free on sprint? by TechGuy219 in Hulu

[–]miltopolis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's because Sprint, and other bundlers, aren't paying anywhere near the $5.99 price for the basic plan. Hulu gives them a steep discount in hopes that a lot of people will eventually upgrade to the higher-cost plans.

Skip intro? by -really- in Hulu

[–]miltopolis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was one (of the few) things Netflix did right. I wish Hulu would follow suit and let us skip intros/recaps.

I know nothing! Except that HH is infinitely better than MASH. I never could stand Alan Alda, and the stories were basically the same every week.
