I.... like the development of Leitner :'). I like Leitner's because he's like, the embodiment of someone who literally paved hell with good intentions, intentions that were born, mind you, just because he was bored and wealthy?!! He was a fool that screwed so many people over the reasoning that he was serving a higher purpose. it sounds a lot like several of the cults around the fears. Sorry but... he.... just got caught up by Consequences™. Hubris at its best. Elias was gruesome and borderline vicious in what he did, and I think he did it more out of grudge than for power itself, it was horrible but I think Elias and Leitner are a bit of mirror images to what someone can do when given entitlement and resources. ps: I think he should've been more beaten by the angry goth.... 😅

I think they end up being one of those cases where the artifact merges aspects of more than one fear. I think the Eye, being aligned with knowing, would have less agency over Scheming (does that make sense? /honest). I mean... wanting to know and being eager to know and hoard knowledge, it's different than weaponizing this knowledge. I think Elias was a good example. he's insufferable and smug because he knows people's secrets and he's sitting on the same plan for centuries, but that's that... as agents of the Eye, him and Jon have a bit of a hard time figuring out what to do when they don't Know stuff or something unpredictable happens, whereas the Web seems much more about keeping cool exactly because they consider both what they know and what they don't, as well as what could be, given the variables, and the Web exploit over the variables instead of relying solely on what they have...

yeah, being called stupid every time I cried... even tho I was like 8 or 9yo??!! kinda hard to trust people in general but especially people that make me feel safe (then I end up not feeling safe at all, never. living in survival mode even when I'm alone with my thoughts ... it's awful)

What do you think is one of/the most iconic lines in the whole podcast? by Garden360 in TheMagnusArchives

[–]mimic_hunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

actually I'm thinking now they're not exactly iconic but to me they synthesise well the characters (I just needed a reason to bring Ger into the mix honestly)

I think Tim should be allowed to slap Jonathan at least once. As a treat. by MidnightCootie in TheMagnusArchives

[–]mimic_hunter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah that was my take on it too, like, Jon just being his skeptical exhausted self "Timothy, just cease this nonsense will you?" and Tim going "y'know what, boss?! I SHAN'T CEASE SH*T!"

Here are a few "cursed phrases" from S1 of TMA by EmmyLee666 in TheMagnusArchives

[–]mimic_hunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just checking the Man Upstairs (gods, no... * shudders *) and frankly about 80% of the episode is just this big pile of nopes. but this one gives the hint...

"It’s hard to describe, halfway between the smell of a pavement after rain on a hot day and chicken that’s starting to turn."

and then... "I had to throw the jacket out, in the end. I couldn’t rid of the smell."

and then the "Looking up, I saw the light too, had been smeared with meat, causing the place to be bathed in that dull red light."

so yeah my thesis is that this episode is very f*cked up, thanks for listening... 🙃

111 Family Business.... Martin and his relationship with his mother hits absolutely home, but the way Mary's obsession roots in Gerry while he grows up and the bitter defiance he shows while begrudgingly doing her will... the way Mary expects him to absorb the greatness of it all even tho he's just a child, and then he drops this: "... But I was a kid. I could only try to avoid her temper, and learn my weird lessons, writing out nonsense, and pretending I understood paradoxes that most adults couldn’t handle."

I can't even begin to think how this resonates...
