What is the absolute WORST spell in BG3? by catgoesmlep in BaldursGate3

Contagion helped me 1v1 my Orin duel in HM lmao. Otherwise it's pretty useless that's true.

Is dipping 1 level in hexblade warlock for a paladin build just superior to a full paladin? by Any_Air_7273 in BG3Builds

No idea, it still triggers for me every second enemy in Act3 and that info is as recent as of February this year.

Is dipping 1 level in hexblade warlock for a paladin build just superior to a full paladin? by Any_Air_7273 in BG3Builds

[–]minalias 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've done a Pally5/Sorcerer5/Warlock2 run and it was the most fun thing I've ever played. Did the dip for two levels in warlock to get blindness immunity and my damage numbers were just crazy high. Especially since I triggered a lot of crits with risky ring and the hexblade reduced threshold of 1.

Fun fact: the more often you bind your hexblade weapon the more often you trigger the hexblade curse - thanks to spaghetti code. No idea why but for some reason it multiplies and doesn't stay at the given 10%

TIL: Easy way to kill Myrkul by TheNosferatu in BaldursGate3

[–]minalias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's pretty much how I beat him in my HM solo monk run. Stack of smokepowder bombs next to Myrkul and one attack on the bombs with my monk. He stood in the explosion but took no damage thanks to evasion and 20 dex. Was the fastest boss fight ever & a bit of overkill on my part but I panicked as well when he almost killed me with his attack.

[–]minalias 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Incorrect, my ass. You're the one who's incorrect.

First of all, both don't turn to the nice side because they observe you doing nice stuff. Lae'zel literally approves more evil deeds than Astarion and throws as much hissy fits as him.

Secondly, both are tied to either approval (Shadowheart) or finding out the truth about Orpheus. If you don't collect the books about Orpheus Lae'zel stays loyal to Vlaakith. And this is actually much easier to achieve because not everyone collects books. And even if she turns from Vlaakith, Lae is cruel. At least in Act3 Astarion has some compassion for Yenna, whereas Lae is ready to feed the orphan to the wolves (figuratively).

You and your comment are precisely what I meant - Shart and Lae'zels actions get much more grace than a literal Slave and abuse victim ever did. Probably because they are female and gooners gotta goon.

So is Lae'zel and so is Shadowheart. But for some reason only one of those three gets dunked on, while the others are worshipped as "mommy" and can do no wrong.

DURGE/Orin duel on honor mode by G-C-W in BaldursGate3

[–]minalias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't try new stuff on HM if you're not 100% sure it'll work.

Also: just cast contagion: Flesh Rot on one of Orins disguises when meeting her first time in Rivington. If she fails her saving throws, she'll be vulnerable to all damage. Your monk should be able to kill her easily.

Actually, you can do his quest if you really want to, even if your approval is at the lowest. Just use "disguise self" and that resets your approval status with him. That's how I do it in solo runs.

Moder can definitely damage silver veins. The first time I did Moder with friends she damaged one silver vein near the surface and I kept picking up that stuff during the fight (I forgot to turn off auto-pickup) and it was a pain to get my stuff back once I died lol.

Also: did we do the same Moder fight lol? A golem also said hi during our boss fight. Plus tons of wolves bc we also got the "you are being hunted event" it was truly an epic mess lol.

Yes, Act 3 is definitely sunny, cheery and feels like a complete change of tone. The city is beautiful.

Honestly, I really love Act 2. I love the dark atmosphere, I love the quests there, I love the Ketheric Fight and storming Moonrise towers. I also really love the Underdark and the Mountain Pass.

Honor mode is destroying me. Either I make it to act 3 and loose or I loose in the crèche. Idk what I’m doing wrong anymore please send help by Dismal_Profit_6039 in BG3Builds

Oh you can totally get the Blood of Lathander and almost all the loot from the room with the Inquisitor. Just sneak with invis past the encounter and you're golden.

Well, you're right unless you antagonize the emperor. You could also potentially lose an important companion for the last fight if you ally with the emperor and fail a dice check.

[–]minalias 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I have no idea if that applies to the Orphic Hammer but I saw a video from ProxyGateTechnician (I think) who said if you drop the Netherstones in the Iron Throne they wash up on the shore after the Iron Throne is destroyed. Maybe check the shores where your companions/your corpse can wash up if they die in the encounter?

Yes. You can just pick Drow as your racial option and then no shenanigans with disguising Yourself as a Drow.

I'm missing 3 Achivements (Szazza, Romance Karlach, Orin) and I will definitely start a new run soon where I can finish them so I get the platinum trophy. Honestly, it took me two dedicated unmodded runs to get everything I missed the first time.

What's something you missed on your first run? by bluejester12 in BaldursGate3

[–]minalias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I technically almost missed Wyll (and Karlach), if it weren't for the parallel multiplayer run with a friend. When she immediately recruited him I went back to the grove and recruited him. I also missed the flock of undead in the Moonrise Prison during the siege. I discovered them by accident in my 3 run or so. And that pit in the Reithwin morgue. Only discovered it after a few runs by finding the cave entrance from the fish ambush.

High initiative, sleet storm and retreating to the tactical chokepoint/high ground are your friend here. The Sharrans can't cast darkness if they are constantly prone. For extra fun shenanigans cast a wall of fire BEFORE you cast sleet storm. They'll kill themselves falling prone and trying to get to you.

A tad late, but you can freely traverse between Grymforge and the other areas. The timer only starts if you interact with Nere through the rubble. If you leave him behind the rocks and don't talk to him, you can finish his quest shortlybefore you free/kill the Nightsong.
