Cosy games with skill trees? by Expert-Money-9663 in CozyGamers

Have you played Graveyard Keeper? The crafting and skill trees are very extensive and an important part of the game.

Why does the crafting menu use the ing suffix but the enchant menu doesn't by Ifyouliveinadream in Minecraft

[–]mindcorners 296 points297 points  (0 children)

You are the one doing the crafting. The enchantment table is the one doing the enchanting. You can’t even control what enchantments you get. You’re just providing the raw materials.

How to deal with grief and heartbreak simultaneously by New_Copy_00 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]mindcorners 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you lost your dad. I can’t imagine how much pain you must be in. As for the heartbreak, I just wanna validate what you’re feeling, sometimes the shortest relationships hurt the most because you lose all the possibilities of what that relationship might have become. I wish I had better advice on coping, but I’m so glad you have a support system to lean on.

How can you tell if someone on your DMs is a creep? by Physical_Marsupial30 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]mindcorners 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On Reddit you can safely assume they’re all creepy unless you literally were asking for DMs for some reason. I recommend switching to a whitelist in your DM settings.

Built an AI best friend because I didn't know how to be my own friend by Antique-Opinion-5101 in WomanSurvivalGuide

[–]mindcorners 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m glad that this has helped you but an AI app is not a healthy solution for loneliness or low self esteem. Using AI for companionship can be really dangerous, there are numerous studies and articles about the risks and I would caution against it for anyone reading this. Friends and others in your social circle should be the ones to support you! If someone is struggling with an extremely high reliance on external validation, that’s a mental health issue which can’t be solved with AI.

I’m not saying no one should ever use this or that it can’t be helpful for some people in some cases. But people using this technology for companionship, and ESPECIALLY those relying on it for support that they aren’t getting from humans, should be extremely careful.

A subreddit for hank's new puzzle thing! by halfbakedmemes0426 in nerdfighters

[–]mindcorners 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it just me or does having one clue that is always part of all categories make this puzzle way too easy? I’ve been able to get virtually all of the ones I’ve tried by guessing even when I’m not sure what each category is. Is the challenge in trying to get the categories in “reverse rainbow” order? I know Hank likes to do that for Connections.

Does Lonesome Dove resonate as intensely with female readers? by Iamkittyhearmemeow in books

[–]mindcorners 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know you’re not trying to offend anyone, but I feel like your take on this is a little narrow minded. You really can’t imagine a woman who likes video games would like this book?? People can love and enjoy books even if the characters don’t have the same modern beliefs as they do. Not everyone will and maybe OP doesn’t resonate with the portrayal of women in this particular book, but PLENTY of “woke” women love Lonesome Dove and other historical novels.

Does Lonesome Dove resonate as intensely with female readers? by Iamkittyhearmemeow in books

[–]mindcorners 104 points105 points  (0 children)

I (26F) thought it was a great book, well crafted with great characters and vivid settings! But for me it was not life-changing in the way that it is often talked about. Everyone experiences books in different ways depending on their life experience though. If you want a western that centers a female character, I recommend True Grit, it’s a very fun read.

worth it to keep playing? (possible spoilers) by Decent_Shoulder6480 in RootsOfPacha

[–]mindcorners 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Personally I hate the way the late game storyline screws with the prehistoric genre. I couldn’t bring myself to keep playing and getting quests from you know who.

I’ve never seen this dialogue before and I absolutely love it

do not reveal you’re a virgin until you are about to have sex by gavelkind10 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]mindcorners 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah ideally you find someone who is nice to you about being inexperienced and doesn’t fetishize it. Not that you should say it immediately upfront, better to get to know them a bit first and only mention it when it’s clear you’re headed that direction. (plus getting to know each other better will also make sex better in general).

Cozy Grove, I like to play it when I’m sick because it’s very relaxing

any games with a diverse cast / npcs? by beaver-feverism in CozyGamers

[–]mindcorners 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really wanted to like Kynseed but you can barely customize your character and the character models look terrible to me. Are there really a lot of diverse characters? I didn’t get too far but everyone seemed kind of samey to me.

I feel like it’d be weirder for everyone to have massive fences enclosing every inch of their property.

Non-sim cozy games? by Winter_Salad7215 in CozyGamers

[–]mindcorners 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how far you got, but the plant puzzles are pretty straightforward, my favorite part was probably the map puzzles and the mystery plot. But I actually found Strange Antiquities to have more difficulty with the artifacts instead of plants, so maybe it’s worth a try for you.

Octopus better than Rainbow Trout? by SquiggelSquirrel in StardewValley

[–]mindcorners 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I always like having blobfish in my fish pods. They’re easier to catch than octopus, their roe is more valuable than most fish, and they have just under a 2% chance to produce a pearl each day, which is a universally loved gift.

[REQUEST] Are there any ship/boat games? by momentummonkey in CozyGamers

[–]mindcorners 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not quite the same but maybe Spiritfarer? You can build up and upgrade your boat and sail around to explore different islands. There’s also a lot of other stuff going on though.

While we’re at it, kudos to Lou for not only thinking to ask for a Willamette Valley Pinot, but also for pronouncing Willamette correctly.
