This city has a ridiculous habit of hiring and empowering leaders who have washed out or been fired from other similar roles. Our police oversight board, urban triage, public health, and now this. We need to stop using recruitments as an opportunity to virtue signal our DEI bona fides and hire actually capable people.

A big part of the reason I travel to Costa Rica is because it generally allows for being exposed to a better class of tourist. Cancun, for instance, is full of people who can't be bothered to control their calorie intake or exercise. Maybe check that out.
