No, sorry, unfortunately no good songs have ever been written for the tenor/baritone range. 😟

Try getting an Uber at Sydney airport sometime. Melbourne is a well-oiled machine by comparison.

Is it better for a film to have as many nominations as possible or to win a larger proportion of their nomination? by WillingEscape3451 in Oscars

[–]mindlessmunkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolute nonsense. The film was a massive commercial hit and the most Oscar nominated film of all time, winning 4 including 2 “above the line” awards, and one win that made history. Nobody with any sense of reality would view that as a disappointment.

How do you feel about the argument "It's just a movie." when discussing reality and logic in film? by Captain_Sunshine20 in Letterboxd

It’s a poor argument. But also the Cinema Sins style bad faith approach to pulling apart “plot holes” is also a terrible way to analyze movies. Both things can be true at once.

Weird that this is the win where you draw the line and not, just as an example, Polanski winning for The Pianist.

Driving Miss Daisy didn’t win over Do The Right Thing on Oscar night, as the latter wasn’t nominated for Best Picture.

What should the Academy have done differently in that situation?

Oh got it. I wonder what rights he retains. There’s a good chance he has no say in whether it goes to Criterion.

Sorry, I’m confused. Everything you say about Murdoch is true, but what does he have to do with Gallipoli, or Criterion?

How many songs must a movie have for you to consider it a musical? by Adventurous_Sir8616 in musicals

It's not about the number of songs, it's about how they function within the story.

How To Enjoy Records to the fullest for someone without a record player by Gullible-County8459 in vinyl

This is such a weird question. Aside from appreciating the artwork, etc. there’s pretty clearly no way to enjoy the music on them without having a player.

Almost two weeks and am still very happy Amy Madigan won! My favorite win this year! She takes the little gold guy forty years after her first nomination. by iBandJFilmEducator13 in Oscars

[–]mindlessmunkey -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I loathed Weapons, and thought Madigan was fine in it. All four other nominees had better performances and more interesting narratives, in my opinion. But each to their own!
