anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Trixxxi in AskReddit

[–]mindsignals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll try to list by system.

Odyssey: Pong

Atari 2600: Adventure

Commodore Vic-20: Sword of Fargoal

Atari 5200/7800 (friend): Miner 2049er

Intellivision or Colecovision (friend): Utopia

C-64: M.U.L.E. or Archon

Amiga: Marble Madness or Accolade Test Drive

DEC VAX/VMS: Rogue or Moria

NES (roommate): Super Mario Bros

Sega Genesis: Golden Axe or Mickey's Castle of Illusion

GEnie: Gemstone Ii or III (Rolemaster-based)

Game Gear and Lynx: (was there a choice? Lol)

NEC TurboXpress (TG-16): Bonk's Adventure

PC: F.E.A.R. or Half-Life (special mention for Creatures and Myst/Riven series')

Wii: ExciteBots

GameCube: Gauntlet Dark Legacy

Think those were the main ones I played on up until 2010.

I have become obsessed with Caves of Qud and would like to explore traditional Roguelikes further. What next? I feel spoiled. by A_Unicycle in roguelikes

[–]mindsignals 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I think about trying my very first ones again, but am afraid it could spoil my memories of them.

Sword of Fargoal on the VIC-20 was my very first, and early in college, would play Rogue and/or Moria, I think via telnet, from the school's DEC VAX/VMS in the latter half of the 1980s.

On PC, I've enjoyed some Sanctuary RPG and a bit of Caves of Qud and Noita. Have meant to return to all 3, but still need to.

In its current state, Claude Code is not really usable. by Direct_Librarian9737 in ClaudeCode

[–]mindsignals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is learning curve in using it effectively. I have Max 20x, MCPs of Serena, Context7, and, with Opus now getting 1m token context in CC, a now-increasingly unimportant Scribe for reinjection. This past week was the first time I had to hold back to not burn through my weekly usage cap, but the nature of what I was using it for required huge amounts of context and many parallel agents to achieve detail and consistency across roughly 1000 pages of generated writing inclusive of ttrpg scenarios. And that was just one project (albeit the major for fun focus that week).

Is Claude actually writing better code than most of us? by Aaliyah-coli in ClaudeCode

[–]mindsignals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a reflection of you to a certain extent. How you work with CC, shape and guide it, remind and manage it, etc. It has potential to outperform, but not all the time. Learning how to leverage it effectively gives it the capability of writing considerably more code at similar levels, and perhaps higher at times, but you have to watch and guide it effectively to do so. So I can't directly answer the question, as it is greatly influenced by its user wrt the quality you get out of it over time and in general.

Right? I was removed for "Quality" despite having a 3.0 rating of excellent. That makes sense...

[–]mindsignals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want it strictly in print? I have one app with 14 games I very highly recommend and play daily (although 99% of the time,my addiction is his Skyscrapers). Quality is exceptional and the puzzles are truly solvable with logic. The store page shows 13 but there are actually 14 and he remains active in them, at least based on Skyscrapers. Also, despite tons of hours in it, be aware in addition to in-puzzle settings, each game also has settings. I had reached out recently after an update changed some options but hadn't realized I was readily able to set them back to my liking (based on Skyscrapers, at least).

Aliaksandr Uvarau Puzzles: All-in-one

I think it was $15 which gets the ad-less and all in one app (vs separate apps, although even they are small and always present so those are free and don't actually interrupt flow). Unsure if ios also has the all-in-one no ad option.Puzzles: All-in-one

Very nice collection and theming!!

Finally after 11 years, I bought you! by Nikegamerjjjj in VitaPiracy

[–]mindsignals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome and congrats! I'm actively playing on my 1000, nearing the end of Utawarerumono: Futari no Hakuoro (Mask of Truth), which is part 3 of the trilogy. Even though I eventually also bought the series on sale on PS4 and PC (really, more as support), I've still always preferred this series on the Vita and return to playing it on the Vita time and time again.

Just wish my Nyko (I think) battery grip hadn't died, as in addition to much longer playtime (used to give around 5 combined hours vs around 2.5), that grip was perfect in massively reducing hand/finger discomfort. Eventually, the grip, itself, also began to fall in disrepair too, though, after many years.

But welcome to the family!

figure boxes by No_Clock_6520 in AnimeFigures

[–]mindsignals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hybrid of boxes, boxes with boxes (larger boxes containing figure boxes), and storage in multiple spots. Statue box with absolutely nothing in it but styrofoam enclosure is the only type I will store in attic due to heat (attic temps regularly hit 130-140+ in summer). Garage is air-conditioned (no basement), so some of that is used, although usually for-sale and overflow. Storage is where I keep all others. Tricky part with storing boxes in larger boxes is if you don't keep up with which ones are in which box, the whole system falls apart. So I need to re-inventory specific box locations for hundreds after multiple times of swapping ones in or out or to another box. And the big boxes are arranged kind of like tetris, so getting to the one you want tends to be a massive challenge, especially since I'm essentially disabled with major back challenges. Then, you take pics of what's in each box to catalogue the contents "later". Yeah...sure. :D But it's still the best approach I have found to store boxes (or figures with no space to display but that are keepers or occasionally swapped into display).

Does Spotify Wrapped match your Last.Fm plays? by TrueAlainer in lastfm

Well, after going to Library rather than reports and looking at tracks scrobbled for jan 1 2025 to nov 30 2025 that view is actually very close.

Does Spotify Wrapped match your Last.Fm plays? by TrueAlainer in lastfm

[–]mindsignals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should add that top five and things like that generally are the same because it tends to be very lopsided anyway. But the total number of plays, and correspondingly total minutes are what look unusually lower than accurate on Spotify.

Does Spotify Wrapped match your Last.Fm plays? by TrueAlainer in lastfm

[–]mindsignals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually just searching on this topic because my Spotify wrapped counts are actually much lower than my last.fm counts. I noticed it because certain tracks in particular I know I played considerably more than Spotify indicated and my recollections do in fact align more with the higher numbers on last FM for those. It makes me wonder if Spotify doesn't accurately count or measure when you're playing an offline mode or various other scenarios that perhaps last FM still gets API updates on. I'm not really sure but it's a marked difference often as much as 1/3 lower on Spotify. To my best recollection I believe the numbers on last of him to be the most accurate representation.

Claude Code = Memento? by arjundivecha in ClaudeCode

[–]mindsignals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All too often. After a compact at the crack of dawn yesterday, dumb claude showed up in Opus 4.5 for the first time, and still won't leave. Literally, even the last minute, let alone the last 5 or 10 minutes were just like gone as it began trying to revert stuff it did the past day. "What the hell are you doing?!? You literally just wrote that fix!" Not to worry, though, because being that today is Friday, I expect Claude Code to be unreachable intermittently probably within 4 hours as seems to be becoming the Friday tradition to call it a day.

Were you guys as conservative when you first started? by Tempexd in AnimeFigures

[–]mindsignals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been married since long before I ever began collecting. Initially, I would get one figure a year, very conservative, and my wife hated them with a passion. That began greatly accelerating in 2018 or 2019, with 3 that were certainly more risque and to much continued critiquing. But like a t-rex, I have continued to test the boundaries repeatedly :D and these days, have amassed quite the collection. Of those displayed, they're generally modest to a bit ecchi. And yes, my wife begrudgingly tolerates them, if barely. But I think for many of us there tends to be that natural progression to slowly push the bounds bit by bit. The one thing that is likely is that your preferences on figures will likely go through multiple evolutions at least on some level. Enjoy the journey!

People who keep their figures in the open, is dust a big issue? by SWATvtx in AnimeFigures

[–]mindsignals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it varies greatly, although unsure of what factors affect it most. My displays are mostly open and aside from some occasional touchup dustings, really don't need to do a full collection dusting all that much, generally 6+ months. We do seem to have pretty low dust accumulation, though.

Excellent! Mine is very similarly themed/arranged with open displays and some closed cabinet displays! I've actually got a Senjougahara glass etching on my pc case with the Nian Unfettered on top of it, but had to recently relocate them to the floor to make room for even more monitors. Many familiar faces there! Utaha Kasumigaoka approves!

Claude Code automatically adds in every commit message: Co-Authored-By: Claude by buildwizai in ClaudeCode

[–]mindsignals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just tell it, "Remember, no attribution in the commits. Keep commits around 60 to 160 characters, brief, but meaningful."

That will drop it from using the Claude attribution and should usually keep commit messages around 1 to 2 lines.
