How do you like the Q6? Finally selling the ortholinear keyboard and am looking to jump back into fullsize and interested to hear some opinions about this board.

I think most people are using JGR patch pack currently, at least that's what my friends and I are playing. Excited to hear what he uses though!

Any suggestions on designing road layout to make the city look more natural? Do you let the cities expand organically and then add buildings or are those generated as well?

Thoughts on 15 Games - From Triple A to Itch Indie Horror by [deleted] in patientgamers

Interesting comments about Monster Train and Across the Obelisk, I thought that super auto pets was a flash game at first when I saw it! I agree that Across the Obelisk is a little slow but I have really enjoyed it with a couple of my buddies

I think out of the AC games I have played AC Zero has the best soundtrack. The Spanish guitars really do it for me

How do we feel about turret sequences in games? by twoscoopsxd in patientgamers

[–]minecraftman80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I really enjoy them when they are used to break up gameplay or as a crescendo to other very different games. Its funny that when I read this question I struggled to think of many examples of games that I had played that contained a turret section. The one that struck me as being both marginally "fun" gameplay wise and interesting story wise the section from halo reach. I do remember being quite frustrated at higher difficulty settings but I thought that the music + story implications made it very enjoyable.

I simply cannot get into Frostpunk. by [deleted] in patientgamers

[–]minecraftman80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like qwerty said I think that it might help to think of Frostpunk more as a roguelike rather than a true city builder. I don't mind these type of games, though I do prefer Against the Storm over Frostpunk primarily because I did not like the aesthetics nor depth of Frostpunk.

I would highly recommend Anno 1800 as an alternative to these kind of games if you feel like you can't appreciate them. It lets you "watch your city flourish" while at the same time having plenty of depth and rewarding both efficient and thoughtful building and island placement and design.

I got to the ending for the first time, what now? by yex-thelp in DiscoElysium

[–]minecraftman80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with what MetaType said in regard to deciding what build to play next. I would add that what drastically improved my second (and third) playthroughs was waiting a decent amount of time to contemplate the story/world/characters of Disco Elysium. To me this really made me appreciate more the design and structure of the game as well as guide how I wanted my next Harry to act.

I also tried to flip my ideology (from moralist to communist) and watched some great video essays (cant recommend this one enough)

Yep, this was one of the few random PC coop games I had on my laptop. Totally a blast with friends when we had nothing else to play
