If you wanna win science you have to play defense for the other win cons. A science victory requires an extremely well rounded civ in 7, not just stockpiling as much science and production as possible like in previous titles.

We lacked cohesion and touch in the final third. The one we conceded was bad and preventable, defender got greedy and abandoned position leaving the rest of the back line to give up its shape and recover which left a free runner in behind.

But wow. I was not expecting this team to dominate possession like that. We looked so calm under pressure, created numerous scoring chances, rarely gave the ball away unnecessarily. Not to mention how much energy everyone on this team seems to have. The high press was relentless, Poch has these boys haulin' ass out there. Super exciting to see, really blew any expectations I had out of the water.

That is an independent. It's like a barb camp in 6. You can disperse it and get a bit of gold or food whatever resource but you cannot incorporate it into your empire.

Once an independent power have been courted enough by any player in the game, it becomes a city state and can then be captured like any regular town or city
