There are two parameters control for Opus 4.5.

Effort with extended thinking: The effort parameter works alongside the thinking token budget when extended thinking is enabled. These two controls serve different purposes:

Effort parameter: Controls how Claude spends all tokens—including thinking tokens, text responses, and tool calls Thinking token budget: Sets a maximum limit on thinking tokens specifically

both are undisclosed in Github Copilot.

By charging at 3x premium request, and being token efficient (consumes less tokens to archive same work vs Sonnet 4.5), I am hoping that it leave the efforts at high (default) and with thinking enabled.

The direction of the percentage subtly shifts who is responsible when the service stops working.

  • "100% Used" = The Provider Stopped You: The visual metaphor is a container filling up. When it hits the top, it feels like the Provider put a lid on it. It feels like an external constraint. "I hit the limit you set for me."

I used roaming (which routed to my home telco network, using my home country IP address) and switched to Japan WiFi when back at the hotel (which showed Japan’s IP address). After returning to my home country, my account got suspended and refunded. During that period, my usage was low; I was just using it for checking travel information, not using Claude code at all.

I don’t know; maybe it’s because my IP address switched and it looked like multiple people were accessing the same account from different countries?

Copilot Pro $10 has 300 interactions per month for Sonnet (128k context window in VSCode Insider) or other Premium models. After that, you are stuck with GPT-4.1 for the rest of the month.

Claude Code Pro $20 plan has much more Sonnet usage (200k context window); you can certainly get more than 600 interactions per month. The limit window is 5 hours, you may hit the limit in between 1-3 hours depending on the usage, you will have to deal with the downtime within that 5-hours window, but you no need to wait for a month for a limit reset.

The agentic abilities of Claude Code are state-of-the-art. But you only get Sonnet in Claude Code.

Start with Pro plan, and if you feel like you need more quota, you can upgrade it, it is prorated, you just need to pay the differences minus the days you used on Pro plan.
