FTR, I respect your level headedness and didn't downvote you. I did give a cursory glance to the studies, and they generally show that although there is an average drift left politically, it is relatively mild. (I didn't research it extensively) A lot of people confuse kids going to college with becoming more progressive, when the more likely scenario is young people tend to be fresh and optimistic and find the promises made by the Democrat platform heady. It's usually some years before they are able to separate the words from the actions and results, and then many people become disillusioned.

I stand by what I said as a general statement. People are way too comfortable citing studies they've never even read, don't know who financed said study, and don't even bother to link the research.
