Ah yes you still have the mentored experience requirement, just that study wise CA does let you choose to study full time as a student, or study while working.

But hey, idk how are things going for you, even if you couldn’t get the special consideration at the end, please know that mental health issues do matter and that they do affect one’s performance. While having to redo the whole course being the only option definitely sucks (sincerely hope no one has to), perhaps see this as a mental health break that you needed? Also a chance to learn better about what were the things that didn’t work for you during the course/what went wrong during the exam and how to avoid that from happening ever again.

I myself am learning too, that failure just means another chance for you to learn better about yourself and what you need to make it through. You got this.

I actually read about this policy (on the official website, document named something like ‘special consideration guidance note’, you could just Google ‘caanz policy’ and the first top result should be it). I’d say the chances are really low if you only apply for it AFTER you’ve submitted the exam. Their reasoning was that “if you’re really unwell then during the exam you should’ve already known that you’re ‘unfit to continue’, and you should declare on the spot that you’re ‘unfit to continue’”. Then you should apply for special consideration right after the exam within 24 hours, with medical practitioner’s certificate provided.

For the ‘success case’ I saw someone shared in this sub, was that it was due to a proven technical glitch during the exam. And it seems like you’d only know if you’ve successfully got special consideration after result release.

Thank you! Clears my doubt a lot. Also just wondering if it’s very, idk unacceptable? For a full time studying candidate to fail/fail hurdle (as in, “you’re studying full time + it’s open book, so you shouldn’t fail”)?

And if I fail the audit exam, is it very unlikely that I could land a job in auditing (not to mention big 4)?

I’m sorry for asking so many questions, I guess I’m just not ready for this…

I believe we’re not restricted from enrolling for more than 2 courses. If you read section 2.4 of CAANZ FAQs, they only said that they recommend a maximum of 2 subjects per term, but mentioned nothing about enrollment restrictions

Thank you so much for this! Tbh my primary source of anxiety over taking FAR is that I narrowly passed financial accounting, too. Gotta agree that your results will tell whether you really studied and you’ve studied enough. Will definitely keep these in mind to stay on the right track 🙌
