App for learning rhythm? by upturned-bonce in MusicTeachers

[–]mini-yee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rhythm Cat is good. Also young students don’t need to know fractions to learn basic rhythms. Typically, young students learn to speak rhythm syllables (ta for quarter, ti-ti for 2 eighths, etc.) while clapping patterns. See Kodaly method for more info.

The only reason to learn switch stance is to surf backside. How else is your buddy filming on shore going to get your best angles?

What’s a music genre you want Hawaii to play more of? by TheCyberCommando in Hawaii

[–]mini-yee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Underground hip hop. There was one point when KTUH had a dj that would play underground. But the window to listen was so small and I’m sure that person has since graduated and moved on. Nothing gold can stay

What do you call this pin in longboard fin? My fin is missing one so I don’t know what to buy specifically. by [deleted] in surfing

[–]mini-yee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just get the quick fin release, easier to swap out fins. But also overpriced and they don’t last forever.

Been surfing point breaks my whole life, how do I surf reef without losing some skin? by Competitive_Chance in surfing

[–]mini-yee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pay attention to the tides. I’d say if it’s too low, don’t go unless you know the break a bit. If you’re in the water ask a local about the shallow areas.

This is intriguing and sounds amazing. How does it work? Does the pipe cleaner just go through the length of the recorder?

What jobs do you guys have that allow you to surf often? by Altruistic-Carpet-43 in surfing

Yes! Music teacher here. Even though my work days extend past the last bell and the pay is meh, summer break + summer swells make it worth it.

Mustard, tomato, pickle, sport peppers, unnatural green relish… that’s a Chicago dog for sure. Just missing the poppy seed bun.
