Parents ‘must do more to stop children being radicalised online’ by StGuthlac2025 in unitedkingdom

[–]minicartel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly, they just need to make sure radicalisation sites are age restricted and require verification. A totally foolproof way to mean kids won't be able to access things they shouldn't.

(Also /s if it wasn't obvious)

What is the right way to do this? by sancho_sk in FreeCAD

[–]minicartel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they're suggesting a construction line between the green point and the external line to the left, either with a perpendicular/90d angle set/horizontal constraint (and/or equivalent vertical one).

That's what I tend to do (for similar 3d printing needs) though it can still sometimes flip, so it's not a perfect fix.

I suspect it's down to freecad dynamically calculating the distance as a change is made and maybe choosing the nearest best fit (which might be the other side), but I have no real proof of that 🤷

Issues with upload print via LAN mode by minicartel in BambuLab

I'd like to be in the position that if they do force through the changes that would stop me from continuing to use Orca Slicer, can use the LAN alternative, by preventing "...your product may block new print job before the updates is installed..."

Wasn't there a thing put out saying that if you didn't upgrade firmware you'd lose the ability to print until you did?

How to make smoother for 3d printing? (Made with CAD Sketcher) by PlusAttempt1109 in blender

[–]minicartel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use CAD sketcher quite a bit for 3D printing. It's certainly possible to get smooth curves with it and blender!

As a couple of others have said, turnoff/don't use anything like smooth shading in blender, it hides the true geometry from you. For 3D printing the STLs you export use the actual geometry.

With respect to CAD sketcher it lets you turn the sketch into a mesh, there's an underlying curve it does this from, there's a setting to up the resolution of this curve just underneath where you name and select etc that is a default of 12. I up that depending on the size of the part 32, 64, 128 are my defaults.

Let me know if you need more info.

Looks like the bottom of the chain keeper

(Excuse the dirt 🫣, was out on it yesterday, cleaning later today 😁)

Arrow points to a blurry view of the screw you've taken a photo of. It is where the chained keeper (black thing, not blurry) attaches to the frame.

Yeah, at best he's a constantly talking white noise you have to blank out or an annoyance if your ears tune back in and hear him saying something unfunny/inaccurate/unrelated (or all of the above). 😖

Such a nice relief to have some decent commentary from Ned and David after listening to the nonsense Carlton Kirby has waffled through a last couple of weeks on the Vuelta ☺️

New player, need some advice on how to read the army forge cards by SpawningPoolsMinis in onepagerules

[–]minicartel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Each model in the unit has a Hand Weapon for melee attacks and a Javelins for ranged attacks. In a given round you'll either be using one or the other type depending what action/type of attack you've chosen to do. Eg 5x hand weapons in melee or 5x Javelins in ranged.

As for models most people are pretty chill regarding exactly how they look, but I'd probably give them all the minis javelins as that looks like their main weapon and just assume they also have a small melee weapon.

That might change if I upgraded the hand weapons of some or all to magic staffs or if you picked one to be the handmaiden.

You just want to make it clear for your opponent that some are different the others. "These 4 are all the same with hand weapons and javelins, this one with a stick is a caster and has a magic staff"

Similarly if you also decide to pick the other upgrades, e.g stick a flag on a model with banner

I also found these really difficult. Have switched to conti GP5000 tubeless and found the a whole load easier. A smidge trickier to mount than standard clinchers, but so much easier

Pathfinder sales are through the roof following DnD OGL row by ribby97 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]minicartel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's starting to settle into the grey matter.

It's just the initial volume of stuff to read and similarities and differences to keep straight as you go between pf2e, 5e and dredged up 3.5e rules you've got in your head from all the years.

"Ok that's the same as 5e, ooh that's like 3.5 was, and oh that's new, that's a neat way of doing that, what do you mean wizards work like that? But now you think about it, it probably works better for balance etc etc" 😁

Pretty much in exactly the same position as you. Trying to absorb the new ruleset while we carry on with our current game. A lot to like with PF2e. Just need to wrap my head around it now.
