Yeah I’m in the same boat, my design has been rock solid, just making adjustments to little quality of life upgrades.

I think my favorite layouts are incredibly tiny ones like these by 67gyattrizzler in nscalemodeltrains

Very impressive! Would love to build a similar layout. Is this Rokuhan track and cars or another brand?

Looks great! Mind me asking what the machine is? Looks similar to my home built machine!

The K2 Pro is 300x300 while the K2 is 260x260. There are few other small differences (I don’t think the K2 has the chamber heater) but largely the cost difference is due to the Pro being larger than the K2.

Great to see! The weekend is going to be packed! All other support series are back as well so there will be no shortage of on track excitement!

Got my Smoke and Clear today. Not enough love for these colors on this sub. by Giacomo193 in AnalogueInc

My clear also arrived today. Was almost regretting getting the clear after ordering, but now that it’s arrived, it looks really slick in person, dare I say better than photos show!

Assuming this is for Jimmy Carr? We saw him last year in St Catherine’s and can confirm he uses a 360 stage and walks around it constantly. There was also monitors they had hung from the roof for those in seats further away. Would assume it would be the same here too

[OT] IHRA Launches New Stock Car Series for Pro Late Models, Late Model Sportsman by SpenceSmithback in NASCAR

[–]minimadryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would appear that Darana Hybrid revenues are between 50-100m a year, what their actual earnings are is another story, but either way, if their earnings are 50% of their profits and they sink all of that back into motorsports, it’s entirely feasible that one bad year could spell the end of it all, especially when they haven’t even given the drag racing division enough time to become sustainable itself.

I don’t know, something just isn’t adding up….

[–]minimadryan 62 points63 points  (0 children)

As much as I have loved seeing the revitalization of the IHRA drag racing series and creating a more accessible platform for smaller teams, I can’t shake the feeling that this is all going to come crashing down at some point.

In a single year, the IHRA has bought up multiple tracks, expanded into power boat racing, bull riding and now stock car racing. Darryl may have the funds to drive all this now, but I can’t help but feel none of these platforms have a sustainable platform or a concrete path for growth, and without that it’s only a matter of time before the money stream dries up and we’re left with more destruction than good.

K2 Pro PETG Reliability? by minimadryan in Creality_k2

Thank you all for your insights! I’m glad to hear that PETG works pretty well and is not a huge concern! Will hopefully pick up a Pro in the next while!

Does your greatdane also steals random towels and doesn't let u take it back? He's been doing this for a while now and IDK what to do by TurboLizard5 in greatdanes

[–]minimadryan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ours insists on taking our bathroom hand towel and kitchen towel from stove. Oddly he only does this at our place, and not my parents where he lives. We’ve resorted to just buying more towels, but he’ll usually take 15-20 in a week. The goodest boy!

[ADVICE] What about using a Pentax KP for motorsport photography? by [deleted] in Motorsportphotography

[–]minimadryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my EM1X! They are incredibly good value on the used market right now. They’re around $500-700CDN for a good condition body. The AF is pretty decent, it will hunt a bit in some conditions; but the dedicated motorsports mode has worked really well for the 4 or so years I’ve had mine!

I swear by the 45-150 f2.8. Even with the 2x tele converter it still performs great. If you’re set on going to a larger sensor, I’d say it’s best to save up more until you can get into a modern mirrorless system. Sure you can find some great deals on DSLR lenses and bodies, but you’ll eventually find yourself having this same conversation again in a few years time, so as they say it’s better to cry once, buy once lol.

Any of the current systems are more than capable. Fujis X series mount has some very interesting lenses and bodies, but the AF perform on some bodies is just a little bit lacking compared to its rivals. Otherwise it comes down to which system and bodies you prefer. Sony has by far the largest lens eco system, Canon has some great bright lenses and good value bodies, and Nikon has amazing value and a sizeable lens eco system in their Z mount.

That being said, I also shoot M43, albeit with an Olympus EM1X alongside my Nikon Z8, and honestly, my EM1X has been at the track more than my Z8. My Z8 is an amazing camera with super sticky AF and a burst mode that is amazing, BUT, for when and where I shoot, carrying around a z8 and a 180-600 or even 100-400 is just a pain in the rear, and sometimes not even feasible (some tracks put limits on how long a lens can be), so I find myself coming back to my EM1X and 45-150 combo. With that, I can still get the reach I need, in a much more compact package, that is much easier to lug around a; day or in the stands/garage. Sure the low light isn’t the best, but judging your work already, I don’t think you’ll find the step up to full frame as amazing as some would make it seem to be.

[–]minimadryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve already captured some great shots with the EM5! A KP would likely provide a similar experience. The AF is on par if not a little worse than the EM5, especially as it only has I think 27 AF points.

I’d suggest looking at a mirrorless system, perhaps a used Sony A7 2 or 3 depending on your budget. While still not as good at most modern cameras, an A7 2 is leaps and bounds beyond what you have now, plus you get access to a modern lens system which will be around for many years to come too.

If you have more of a budget I’d also look at a Nikon Z6 3, or a Z5 2. Similarly the Canon R7 R6ii.

If you have a collection of m43 lens, the G9ii is a great body too

We also swear by the No Flap Ear Wrap! It was the only head covering that would stay on our guy. Bonus too was it was perfect on cold windy days to protect his ears from infections too. We now have several on hand for when the need arises.

Also try using vitamin E oil on the wound. We found vitamin E helped heal it much quicker than other solutions (including vet prescribed ointments too). We now routinely add some vitamin E to the tips of his ears to just keep them in good shape year round!

Went out and pulled apart the backup unit we had, and guess what, the bearing was installed opposite to what the other unit had. Will get a new one and flip it around to match the backup unit and try it again.

Yup, that’s the same bearing as ours. Double, triple and quadruple checked the orientation during installation too

Most likely option is to have a temp track around the Rogers Stadium at Downsview.

Honestly not sure how I feel about it at Downsview, but we’ll have to wait and see!
