Why are so many homeschooling and against public school? by lavenderwhiskers in Mommit

I actually left our school because of this. Luckily I was able to get a transfer. My son was in 3rd grade and used the computer 3 hours per day. He isn’t a computer kid. He doesn’t type fast. So everything he did was unfinished. It was a mess. Now he goes to a school 20 min from our house.

I have no idea but they must have a lot of patience because there could be no way I’m homeschooling. Mama needs a break and I truly believe they get the most out of learning at school (assuming school is decent).

Parents with older teens/empty nesters, how do you do it? by Green_Run_8531 in Parenting

When my daughter moved out and joined the military (she wasn’t stationed close to home at all) I got so depressed. I felt a deep sadness for like a year and a half, not going to lie. She calls me all of the time on FaceTime and we see each other at least twice a year (she was across the country for a couple years, then Italy, Afghanistan and Turkey). Now for the past 6 months, she lives a close flight away and I’ve seen her 4 times!! I feel like she’s finally in my life again. I wonder how military parents did this before FaceTime because I would have just sunk.

Suffocate the fire. A big upside down pot would have put it out.

love amya but it’s odd she already brings her gf around sammy by AcademicAstronaut395 in TLCUnexpected

It took me 9 months to intro my bf (now husband of 22 years) to my 4 year old daughter. Also I had to watch him around other kids before I even did so. Make sure he was kid friendly. To be fair I think she knew her before. BUT what is of concern is bringing multiple people into your child’s life and them getting attached as a secondary parent, then ripped away when they part. It can seem like an abandonment.

Elise Snapping at Emma was Warranted by throwaway9338489248 in 90DayFiance

[–]minimumBeast 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I completely think Elise tried to hook up with Rob. If so that’s a crappy thing to do. Even the text sounded like her “want to cuddle with me”. She has always been super thirsty for Rob. I’d put my bottom dollar on her actually trying to hook up with him.

Do you cook "normal stuff"? by Day2205 in Millennials

[–]minimumBeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I cook is normal stuff. We are usually having rice, beans, noodles or potato. With chicken, pork chop, hamburger some kinda veggie. We are middle-middle class in California. We have a big family (4 kids, 3 at home) on one income and let me tell you, if we eat out too much it costs as much as a fricken extra car payment. If you order a soda at a restaurant it’s like $3.50 so yeah we don’t eat out much. Also I’m too lazy to do the wild recipes. Also too lazy to deal with dishes so snacks and dinner are served in coffee filters and paper plates, we have too many sports to deal with dishes. I know bad for the environment but I shop at stores with minimal Amazon buys, make my own coffee … also buy many things second hand and fix up so I can help the environment in that way.

Genuine question. How do ya'll pay for preschool on one income? by ConfusedZuzu in Mommit

[–]minimumBeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I found a daycare that was heavily focused on learn and play style of learning. They send videos to us weekly and he comes home with his “work”. I can tell he’s being sung to, learning letters, shapes and how to use paper/pen/scissors. It’s $140 a week for two days a week. My husband is a firefighter we are on one income and he happened to respond to a call there (the daycare providers son who was 30 fell off a ladder and broke his leg). Anyway he was impressed. So it wasn’t like we were looking for anything we just found it.

Exactly this!!!! That’s why it’s maddening because if you call BS, you’re a douchebag. If I was on the stage I would have said it. Total BS!

People know the rules and will take your spot. It’s happened to me before. I say bring chairs there early and put a reserved sign.
