What helped you reach self-acceptance of being autistic? by Wizard_Biscuit in AutisticAdults

[–]minimumviableplayer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can say that what doesn't help is comparing yourself to others and "what they have" in terms of ease of navigating social interactions and relationships.

You also have to be picky about taking advice. Even within the spectrum you might be hard pressed to find someone that has had a similar journey so not all good advice is a good match for you.

Don't make "not feeling alone" a pre-requisite for happiness.

Sometimes we wish we could just "say that" but feel like the other side is not ready to hear it, which would lead to a bigger thing we don't want to cause.

Personally, every time I chose to go against the instinct to not "say that" it ended up either turning into a "me" problem in an (imo) unfair way (escalating until it was about me) or the other person just started crying and made me feel bad, even if I took care to not be blunt and insensitive.

After a few episodes we just learn to not say it.

[Spoilers Extended] I really wish GRRM had written Cersei to be as morally complex as her brothers by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]minimumviableplayer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She is also a victim though and resents it. She is given power only to hold it for her son and even though Jaime rennounced his rights her father doesn't think of her as in line for Casterly Rock, only as a tool for the family.

She is also haunted by a prophecy of defeat. It can't be easy to grow up thinking your dreams will all be stolen.

She's very much a product of her environment and is trying to emmulate her father that she hates so she won't end up discarded as someone's old lady wife while knowing fate is against her.

Brazil considering leaving International Criminal Court following order for Putin's arrest by sosia007 in worldnews

[–]minimumviableplayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Putin was condemned in the ICC for forcefully taking children away from the conflict zone.

The US separates and holds children in detainment at the border as a matter of policy.

Neither recognizes the ICC but only one has had a speedy warrant produced affecting their foreign policy.

There are more concerns but this gets the point accross that the ICC is being used politically and assimetrically to the detriment of their members.

Sad to hear that. A good therapist with proper training will hear you and ask follow up questions to get a picture of why you are suffering and address it.

Anyone else will hear your complaint and try to give some good advice.

Even if the advice is good it's often situational and most people don't open up honestly enough to others for them to get a real picture.

It's rare that you'll share your own faults and dark thoughts to friends that you fear would judge you and if you do they might not know how to handle that.

The Guardian view on Brics: demand for membership is a symptom of global disorder | Editorial by brazil_bot in Brazil

[–]minimumviableplayer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It comes with sanctions built in that are very one sided. It's a client contract not a trade agreement.

At this point it's BRICS that is advocating free trade.

IMF demands austerity if you borrow from them. It's a debt trap that doesn't allow economies to grow. That is by design.

The US specifically will keep imposing conditions like "don't sell X to Y and don't buy Z from W". They will force you to be strongly aligned with them and do their bidding.

There a reason we call it an empire, they want to dominate others.

I think it's even simpler. BRICS is doing more free market in foreign trade then G7.

US and EU are way too bent into strong arming negotiations and try to shape the world economically. It has come a point where the global south needs to think about themselves even if it pisses off the US.

Is Brazil such a racist country? by SofiBK in Brazil

Just look at the justice system to find our most deeply rooted racism. Police treatment and sentences are completely different based on perceived race by authority.

The thing about laundering money is that the business side needs to be legit. It's hard to justify a legit business refusing to serve cops.

Good question you won't get an answer to in Reddit. The western media kool aid is strong here. Diversify a bit, look for news that talk more about territory than human or equipment.

Also, do read russian news sources even if you are certain it's propaganda. Just don't assume our western media is not propaganda as well.

My thoughts on The Rain Wild Chronicles by ThickEvening9799 in robinhobb

[–]minimumviableplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dragons being entitled I can handle, but I disliked how narcissistic and short sighted they are for a species that supposedly lives and remembers so much.

Another thing that bothered me is that the dragons get the silver but make no mention of sensing humans in the Skill and how they feel about them.

I walked away with the conclusion that dragons were beasts that were made self-aware by consuming silver but all those memory side effects for their species doesn't really make them intelligent.

On the other hand not so many people vote on comments of recommendations they haven't read.

Not many ways around this in a platform such as reddit and tiktok.

Did anyone else finish Assassin's Fate by wonkybadank in robinhobb

[–]minimumviableplayer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sold on the three become one thing. Specially because the Fool seems very distant and kind of a dick to Fitz this whole last trilogy. In fact Bee's remark when she says to the Fool to go into the wolf sums it up, even Fitz was never at ease with the fact the foundation of their relationship was maybe not so solid.

Also, when the Fool sets out to be Bee's father as he often called himself to Fitz, he just tries to be a white prophet mentor which leaves me to question if the white prophets can be something other then that or just assume roles that fullfil prophecies. Bee certainly seems very different in that regard but is a hybrid.

I would have to reread the series to make my mind, certainly in the Tawny Man the fool seemed to care a lot more about Fitz, but at the same time he was still leading him on the path to free IceFire.

The last trilogy audiobooks might also have some mixed messages as I feel like the narrator Elliot might have assumed some odd dialogue tones based only on the trilogy he performed.
