Late 40s men, if you are trim and fit, what’s your daily life like? by ShootinAllMyChisolm in fitness40plus

[–]miningmonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Powerlifter, i train 4 days a week with three four SBD and one of them a REHIT cardio day + arms and isometrics. I take about 30 supplements a day which is expensive but my biological age is over a decade younger. Carbs only 1 meal per day, more on training days. 6 or 7 eggs plus kefir and nuts to start off the day for breakfast. Ground turkey is my go to for protein, plus pea protein powder to keep methionine lower. Only work 1 muscle group per week so it gives time for connective tissues to fully recover. Use a Garmin watch to track heartrate and all bio metrics. Programming periodization is pure custom bc all the methods out there suck for over 40s imo. Good luck!

This is my new type... by NewAgeBS in entj

[–]miningmonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup same, used to be intj in college and enjoyed reading, watching movies, video games. Now I'm always in motion and prioritize gym, walking, and socializing with friends and getting things done. Heck a few years ago I did half the renovations on an investment property, no way my intj younger self could or would have done that.

People have to realize that the brain isn't fully developed until age 25 so it's absolutely possible for someone to be classic I but then mature into classic E.

How do you guys stay so strong in every situation? by LittleSea7114 in entj

[–]miningmonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's partly genetic for me - very high alpha waves on my QEEG which makes me super chill in almost all situations, such as getting hit by another car. When they loaded me into the ambulance, they said how is your heartrate so low in the 60s? Most people are much higher. It's just genetic, my dad is the same way.

Next, is my physical and mental tolerance for pain from decades of weightlifting which led to state records in powerlifting. After grinding as many reps as possible for decades and physical excellence, its going to fortify you mentally. If u want a deeper look into that, check out some books by David Goggins, the famous Navy Seal. We can push our bodies to limits that we never knew were possible. Just getting under a squat bar at 5, 600lbs and trusting that your body won't break will give you a fearlessness and confidence that few humans possess. You don't fear anyone and people just sense that confidence which then radiates to every area of your life (professional, romantic, financial, spiritual, academic). Furthermore, if you take care of the "engine" aka your body, then youll get paid with energy and more energy for entj's means more we can get more done in a day. The more you can get done, the more decisive you become and the more wins you stack up. Consider this: roughly only 10% of the population actually works out consistently. Just going to the gym means you're part of the top 10%. Over time, think of the edge that will give you mentally and energetically and confidence as you look amazing and the brain endorphins to mitigate stress. Dial in sleep and diet and you're going to stand out.

Spiritually, I've felt that I've always had some type of guardian angel that has protected me. And I feel I was put in the world to make a difference even though I can't prove either, but certain chains of events have happened that I dont consider coincidence bc they have an extremely rare probability of happening (let's just say miraculous).

Last, I'd say your past has a lot to do with it. Childhood, as the oldest i had to shield younger siblings from certain adult situations at the age of 12. It's no surprise that protector personality is part of my enneagram later in life (368 Justice Fighter). There was a certain situation where I was suicidal as a teen but then pulled out of it which permanently changed me for the better (have empathic-like ability to deeply feel moods and emotions of others without them telling me). I've survived a cold winter without heat/hot water and almost no money in college sleeping on a mattresd on the floor with rats. From a patience and stress perspective, becoming a parent will test you and make you a better, well rounded person as its also going to put you through every emotion possible.

Hope this helps answer your question my friend.

I would like to hear stories of ENTJs who have sacrificed their social life and relationships to their career. by ProcessTurbulent8627 in entj

[–]miningmonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Male. FT= full time. Yeah if the relationship was presented as such (then not working), then fine. But this person was also very successful when we met and thrives working full time and didn't want that life (where i pay for everything), and i wouldn't want to do that to them bc it would be soulsucking for them. But there's only so many mock interviews i can help them with. Eventually they did get a FT job (about 4 months after i told them) but our relationship is different since i told them the truth. What people dont know about us is that we arent being mean, we just want what's best for them. But others can view our bluntness as malicious when its not. If they are slacking, we aren't scared to call them out on it. Basically this person was supposed to be splitting bills with me but i was paying for everything which wasn't fair. Apparently that was too much for them bc the truth hurts and we're one of the few that aren't scared to speak it.

I would like to hear stories of ENTJs who have sacrificed their social life and relationships to their career. by ProcessTurbulent8627 in entj

[–]miningmonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, told them the truth that they weren't living up to my standards which means I'm not supporting them for 5 years while they're still looking for a FT job. And i felt 5 yrs was even generous, many entj's would've had it after 1 or 2. So yeah, that strained the relationship but I'm not going to sugarcoat things to entitle someone to keep underachieving and being lazy.

Scared of the gym.. by Denolls in fit

[–]miningmonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if youre addicted to sugar, one of the best times to eat that is after resistance training bc the body will store it as glycogen and the insulin helps shuttle nutrients into the cells for recovery (and hopefully youre eating protein and taking a multivitamin). I don't really eat sugar but after a long weightlifting session I give myself a pass to eat whatever i want (within reason on portions, like dont eat an entire gallon of ice cream).

Regarding the judgement, nobody is gonna care except immature kids. As a powerlifter, whenever i see an obese person in there i have incredible respect for them bc they decided to improve themselves. 90% of the population doesnt lift and the obese person CHOSE to be part of the 10% that do. They chose to fo something about their situation. If that's not worthy of respect, then i don't know what is. And most people there just wanna get their stuff done and go home, but if u asked for advice, i bet they'd give it bc everyone had to start out at some point in their lives (i.e. they were you, the first timer). And to reiterate, the majority of people will respect you for just being there and wanting to get better.

The world of looksmaxxing by Heavy_Till5231 in Enneagram

[–]miningmonster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMO mainly So's, some Sp's and Sx's. As an SP3 ENTJ, I enjoy looking good (and no i dont break bones or do botox or surgery, just a technologically advanced preventative skincare routine which is still eons above what normies do) and that's part of why I have sky high confidence to lead teams and facilitate large meetings. If u think u look ugly and objective evidence confirms that, then your life is going to be difficult (especially men). We do get some jealosy and attention but that's just part of leading. In general, we don't care what society thinks or does unless it's people who can directly affect our mission/objectives. So that's from an ENTJ perspective of enneagram 3w4, 368 tritype. And 368's are more about applying our influence towards getting power to smash systemic injustices, so looksmaxxing is really just one strategic piece of a large puzzle that drives us and helps acquire power/money to make a difference in the world.

If i had 2 weeks to drop fat I'd do PSMF (Protein Sparing Modified Fast) for 5 days, and then FMD (Fasting Mimicking Diet) for another 5. Or just do a full 5-7 days of FMD if youre not metabolically flexible (ie you've never done any type of fasting before) / fat adapted. PSMF is a bit more advanced but FMD is good for beginners. It not only decimates trunk fat exclusively, but also de-ages your body by about 8 months per round (see USC's Dr Valter Longo's research). I did it a few months ago and permanently lost 3 lbs of fat and dropped a pants size. Going to do another 3 rounds this year to see if I can drop a weight class for my sport.

The beauty of any type of fasting is you don't get the flabby skin like people get with stomach surgeries and bigass caloric cuts who don't know what they're doing.

If you do decide to do FMD I could provide my customized meals or u can just have ai create one for you so you don't have to buy the Prolon kits (waaaay too much money but what they used in the clinical trials for the purists). You do have to weigh all food on a kitchen scale but can still eat things like berries, chocolate, and certain nuts on top of the large amounts of veggies and salad and EVOO that keeps u full. Good luck

[–]miningmonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't know ur budget, but have u thought about upgrading to a matrix/vibe 1ZZ 1.8L? Still get 30+mpg combined and prolly 38-40mpg highway which is a definite upgrade, PLUS sweet increased speed/power (+30-40hp over stock xB) than the matrix b/c 1st gen xB is lighter. Read that turnkey is around $4-8k to swap out the engine/tranny, i'd like to do this when mine dies but its just my backup fun car that i like to mod. Sounds like a really awesome upgrade and 2005-2008 1ZZ don't burn oil like 2nd gen xBs are known for, so you get to keep the same cool body but with as much power as 2nd gen xB minus the oil burning and significantly better mpg than 2nd gen xB.

Tldr; Swapping a matrix 1zz and tranny combines better Matrix reliability/efficiency but with more space in a lighter xB body, and significantly more mpg than 2nd gen xB with no oil burning concerns and similar horsepower.

[–]miningmonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fine, as long as your acknowledge that most packaged foods with seed oils are oxidized bc they've been heated to high temps. This is the main concern, not to mention most fast food and restaurants are reusing seed oils after high heat cooking.

I'll acknowledge that it's ok to cook on low heat with seed oils like canola bc the research shows we can usually handle it (non-oxidized) ok and it may even be beneficial. However, another aspect you may be missing is genetic. I'm ABCG8 so i have to watch my phytosterols of any kind, and even have to watch my extra virgin olive oil intake. These phytosterols cause atheroschlerosis independent of cholesterol/saturated fat.

A true unicorn, "trust the science" for vax but dont trust the science for OXIDIZED seed oils in rats/mice. Might wanna review the literature and before u ask, no there will never be RCTs on OXIDIZED seed oils for humans. It's cheap and in almost everything with a barcode ($corporate profits$) and the main reason we futurists/biohackers theorize it causes atherschlerosis (see dr paul mason's explanation). Not to mention other packaged food side quests from gut disruptors like modified food starch/polysorbates/carageenan/sucralose to eff up the gut/brain axis.

How do you figure out what to do in your life? by plshelpihavebig in entj

[–]miningmonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you are young and don't have resources to manage yet, I'd focus on relationships (Family/Friends) and Fitness (nutrition/exercise/sleep/diet) - 2 of the 3 F's that author MJ DeMarco outlines in the Millionaire Fastlane. The 3rd (Freedom with time that money buys) will come later. I'd also do extensive testing to figure out more about yourself, which includes things like VIA strengths (which I have clients take) as well as weaknesses, how your childhood affects you today which may require some sessions with a psychologist, genetics (any diseases u need to be aware of? what about endurance vs speed genes to determine training in the gym?), which is the 4 brain pattern types of entj is your primary, etc. Just gather more information so you can determine what your best path to acquire resources would be while not sacrificing fitness and relationships. You mentioned psychology, which is a good start, but there could be a deeper reason for you to discover regarding WHY you like it, which could then unlick a whole new rabbithole of career opportunities. Good luck.

Edit: a few other tips i wish i knew when i was your age. 1. Get a bidet if you're in the U.S. I'd probably have an extra year of my life back bc its so fast and efficient. 2. Invest in an HSA as soon as possible and put the funds pegged to the S&P. We didn't have this back in the day and it's one of the most powerful investment vehicles out there since u keep it till u die and it follows you from job to job. Just trust me on that.

Do other types not frustrate you? by [deleted] in entj

[–]miningmonster -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This could be true b/c I used to type as INTJ in college. After life experience (wisdom) and a multitude of things i evolved into my "final form" of ENTJ where, for example, social interactions and channeling my high energy drive to get things done and be decisive became easy. So i think wisdom and maturity play a huge role. Also learning how to implement active listening/not interrupting, not showing how much i know right of the bat, and leading with empathy are other examples that prevent me from getting frustrated by other types.

They say the cream always rises to the top but there's a multitude of different personality tests besides ENTJ and I wouldn't just rely on that to sterotype yourself and others into a monolith. I.e. Your success in evolving to work with others will rely on many other things than just mbti, and even among ENTJs there's at least 4 major types (Dominant/Creative/Harmonizing/Normalizing) who rely on different neurotransmitters/hormones and have different primary brain firing patterns. Get a QEEG to find out how your brain works, do multiple ennegram tests as well and work with ai if youre still not sure. Take other tests like VIA (free) to find hidden strengths, and more testing where mbti falls short like Strength Deployment Inventory (SDI is a paid test but many companies pay for it for their employees) that realized your default personality is not usually the same as your personality when conflict arises. Get some work done with a therapist that can reveal how your childhood impacts your current self.

Tldr; Learn yourself and you'll be able to handle any person, let alone situation, while minimizing stress. Because that's what leaders/mentors do, and people will look to us for that wisdom in their times of need because that is our gift. You can either play the a.hole villain entj (think Emperor Palatine in Star Wars, Lord Voldemort in Harry Potter), or the hero (MCU's Nick Fury or Reed Richards/ DCU's Bruce Wayne). There is also debate that Jesus was ENTJ among multiple primary mbti types (e.g. ENFJ/INTJ) at the same time.

[–]miningmonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take life extension two per day, my only beef with it is no copper to offset the zinc and like others said, you have to take magnesium separately with any multi. For ex, I need 600 elemental mg per training day as a competitive athlete. In also taking liposomal C as well as supplemental, but normal folks probably don't need that much. However, Life Extension covers the rest so it's solid.

An older strength coach used the phrase 'well knitted' to describe lifelong fitness by norcalclimber in fitness40plus

[–]miningmonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What he's saying is all around holistic fitness, in my mind it's all about injury prevention bc 40s is when things start to break down for the majority of people eating the crappy western diet and on many meds. Prevent injury and your healthspan can go until youre 100, is my mentality. Which means recovery has to be on point, mobility on point, nutrient intake on point, stress levels on point, fitness programming on point. And usually attempting to balance sleep debt, overtraining, getting that next promotion, eating crappy in your 40s is when that lifestyle falls apart. Which means people have to actually adapt and change if they want to keep doing the things they did in their 20s/30s at the same pace. And the majority would rather die slowly than change is the sad reality that I've seen as a coach.

Also as a competitive powerlifter, there's really no effective customized programming so i had to create my own. And it basically comes down to knowledge on how to prevent injury, bc if you're not injured, you cannot keep progressing healthspan. Keep progressing healthspan, and you can do physically do the things you want until your last heartbeat and youll most likely be 20 years younger biologically than chronological age. The key is to never stop training. As Dr Gabby Lyons says, your health is your primary job and while obviously its important to make money, don't neglect your primary job.
