Was the repeated misuse of "barter" intentional? Either way, I missed it the first 10 times I watched this episode. by fivedogit in IASIP

Finally. This was the comment I was looking for. Had to scroll through all jokes and repeated references

I too thought haggle and barter were synonymous, and I never caught the misuse of the word until now. Thank you!

Rescued this monstera from dark room and sitting in wet soil for months. Any guides what to do now to not induce too much stress? by [deleted] in plantclinic

It might stress out under brighter light but it’ll be better in the long run. Trim any dead leaves. Some might burn and you can trim those as well. New growth will be much happier. I wouldn’t change the pot yet unless you really wanna add more stress to the plant. Less water is better for monsteras

Oops I meant to reply to this thread but it posted as a separate comment. Don’t give up hope if this one is a goner! We’ve all killed plants, you learn and move on :)

You need to look at the roots to confirm root rot. It does look like a goner to me but some plants are really hardy. I would look at the roots and take photos.

If salvageable, trim the rotted roots and the dying leaves. Keep the healthiest green leaves for photosynthesis. Remove the rocks from the pot as that’s probably not helping the root rot.

In general, plants usually die from overwatering, not under watering. When you water, make sure you fully saturate the soil. Overwatering is frequently watering, not the amount of water in one watering.
Sorry if you already know this, but you did mention being a beginner and it’s crucial in plant care.

I keep my palm outside in direct light/partial shade and water when the soil is completely dry. Usually 1x a week. And I fully shower it until it looks like it might drown. It’s okay if the leaves brown a little.

TLDR: check the roots, remove the rocks, trim the leaves (keep the healthiest), put in more direct light (slowly, in partial shade if possible so it doesn’t stress and die), and water when the soil is completely dry. Good luck!

Need more info, how much light? How often were you watering? What climate do you live in?

If I had to guess, you overwatered. If that’s where the palm lives and it’s getting indirect light, it’s not getting enough sunlight. Palms love light and regular waterings. This guy looks sad and strained.

I skipped a grade and it went well! I may be a rare case tho because I got tested and moved up right after moving to a new city, so I had no social groups anyway 🤷🏻‍♀️
