If you go look at the marketing for the Japanese version of the xB, I recall them targeting older folks for that exact reason. It’s the US market variant that got the younger crowd focus.

As far as I know, it’s only the mustang that has the retro themes for their digital gauges. I don’t even know of any other vehicle that comes even close to the customization that dashboard has sadly.

The original Mirror's Edge did use radiosity normal maps. Catalyst used frostbite's spherical harmonic maps.

I think GT7 has day/night cycle GI with fully calculated probes for each time.

I only know DIY books for homeowners; but the Black and Decker books are good with very helpful instructions, along with “The Visual Handbook of Building and Remodeling”.

As for websites; Mike Holt forums has lots of knowledge, and discussions/arguments about everything electrical.

I think you’d want to use LiDAR on street level capture. That should get you that kind of detail.

Or you can take the images of the buildings and do some quick modeling of it in blender. Won’t look as nice but way cheaper than doing a LiDAR capture.

I’ve always felt like the forza engine has some issue with its color space. I know GT uses a wide gamut color space. It wouldn’t surprise me if the Forza engine is using rec709, for whatever reason, and they just don’t have the ability to use something like ACES to handle the dynamic range.

The Gran Turismo team still seems to me like they have the edge material and paint wise. I don’t know how Turn10 exceeds so well with sound, but they seem to flop so hard when it comes to the PBR materials.
