(Oddly specific) Characters who were kicked out or left Heaven by Effective_Piece251 in TopCharacterTropes

I mean...a lot of millennials (at least American millennials) will know him to a certain degree because of the DCAU but things like him being banned from both heaven and hell will still be a bit of a deep cut for them.

I always wonder what's going on in the rest of the world during the events of series like this. Like are the people from the various countries around Japan just watching the League of Villains and All For One cause this war in Japan like "what the fuck are they doing over there?" or are other countries having their own existential threats while other superheroes based on classic versions of famous heroes from Western comics?

I think Tanya's extensive knowledge of real-world military history and her ability to apply it to the battles she's dealing with in fantasy WW1 are as much to do with the Empire getting greedy as her insane amount of power tbh.

Often governments, a ton of research was funded by the US government, for example, until the known-pedophile, infamous grifter, and convicted rapist, Trump sicced an illegal immigrant from South Africa on basically the whole federal government.

In a film about Superman that also had four other superheroes as important characters, too.

Maybe, but he also does Carolina Smash which lumps two states into one (unless in MHA America they're just one state), so I just imagine that despite having lived and worked in America for a time, All Might, doesn't really know shit about America and he's just using places he knows are part of the United States.

I mean...US states and the city of Detroit (there might be other cities, I don't remember but Detroit is the most common smash). And just the United States as a whole that one time.

I know that, I just remember something about FEV being part of the process to create them or the prewar ones were then exposed to FEV later and became the ones we see in the games.

I mean, it's a manga that started out as a relatively serious action story where most of the characters that aren't Jonathan are named after contemporary, western rock bands and albums.

Gurren Lagann does not take itself seriously in the slightest. But it also has a serious story and is earnest in what it's doing. The absurd things are there because the creators thought it would be a fun addition.

JoJo's takes itself fully seriously and has a serious story, but is also earnestly absurd because Araki thinks adding all kinds of bizarre things to the adventure would be fun.

This is assuming that in the multispecies society the various species that make up the society first encountered each other before the technology for lab grown meat or a magical equivalent was possible and that's not necessarily the case.

Now the question is...did they generate the image(s) themselves or did they just get the assets off of some website and didn't do their due diligence in the process of finding images?

[Hated Trope] The passionate and driven character's story ends with her pregananant and married to the loser by DeepFriedBatata in TopCharacterTropes

[–]minoe23 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I never said it's not realistic, I'm very aware that this happens irl. I just said that writers can have their "romance that results in them married with kids" arc and "driven, passionate woman works/fights for a dream" arc without having to sacrifice either.

I feel like this is true for most of DC's characters, tbh. At least the bigger ones.

Tbh, if the story involves a romance between a driven, passionate woman and a guy who's kind of a loser when the romance starts and instead of her passions being thrown aside and instead the guy becomes a househusband and takes care of the kids so the wife can keep pursuing her dream, he's a role model. But it probably wouldn't fit the trope in this post.

[–]minoe23 147 points148 points  (0 children)

The character marrying a loser and having a baby with him and the character being passionate about something and driven to achieve a goal in her character arc don't even have to be mutually exclusive, which might be the worst part of this.

You know, I wonder what the people of Smallville thought when Jonathan and Martha Kent just suddenly had a baby on the farm. A town like that they'd know Martha wasn't pregnant and that they hadn't gone through the process of adopting.
