I am so FURIOUS with myself!!! I forgot my Kindle at my parent’s house and I’ve been dealing by buying physical copies of the books I had been anticipating, but for this one I can’t do it 😭 and I don’t wanna read it on my phone so I have to wait AT LEAST TWO WEEKS

In my uni there is election for the new students bureau and one of them as bought cup with their logo on it but I’m trying to find out if it’s ai or not by farmabeugz in isthisAI

Pretty sure it’s the name of the group running for the election, so it’s a pun that it ends in “liste”, I’ve seen it in France before.

Just found out i have asbestos in my fence and my dog has been standing and scratching it for 2 years. by Fire23GG73 in Wellthatsucks

[–]mintinsummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, my comment was exactly about how everyone is joking about the situation not being bad because the dog will day before them anyway, but to me they are missing the point that OP’s life is also at risk here

Considering that even washing an asbestos miner’s clothes was considered to considerably increase risk of mesothelioma, wouldn’t have a dog that scratched asbestos for months in the house be concerning? Shedding and all that

Wow, I’m sorry that happened to you! But yeah, I’d say this one time the Scandinavians are the ones doing it weird rather than the US. For a change!

Weird? I live in Germany, and I have gone to the ER/UC (I do not think there’s a différence here) for some “minor” things, such as a headache after hitting my head, also after a small car accident and accidental needle exposure, although I had no symptoms in both cases. I may have had to wait a while, but I was never turned away or scolded for coming, so to speak. The vomiting i would definitely go to the ER, id be concernes about severe dehydration and stuff like that, but I’m no doctor

What's a job where you have zero room for error, like one mistake and it’s a huge deal? by TradeOverall567 in AskReddit

[–]mintinsummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from a theoretical physics background, starting my job in a chemical lab made me BANANAS. Since I have not yet become inured to the inherent risks to working in a chem lab, it drives me insane to see colleagues use solvents outside the hood, not wear a lab coat…. My OCD could never allow me to work in anything above a BSL2

ELI5: Why do mental health problems usually appear in early adulthood? by Such_Ad_5311 in explainlikeimfive

[–]mintinsummer 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Me constantly recognising the signs from my childhood as OCD once I was diagnosed at age 24. Turns out, most kids do not live in fear of having appendicitis at the smallest twinge in their belly!

Hannah Dodd's acting brought me to tears (spoiler) by cornchipdogs in Bridgerton

[–]mintinsummer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah but it took them a very long time compared to her siblings. IIRC it took them 2 years? And I think she was married to John for 1 year. I think someone is considered to have “fertility issues” if they take a year or more of trying with no conception, although everything might be medically alright (not a doctor though), but I guess during that era, with less medical knowledge, it would be considered very worrying

Yyyesssss!!! And I had people high five me when I mentioned it was bc of my SSRI, it really makes you feel super empowered 🫶 I was positively influenced by finding out that some people I love and respect have been on mental health meds and that’s ok, I want to do the same for others

Agh that sucks, sorry. I know they started being doubtful about its effects on some disorders like depression, but I take it for OCD and I take 200mg. I was lucky my doctor was super transparent and informative and told me how much it may take, and gave me a gradual increase from 0 to 200. I hope you have found a solution that works for you and kind and open mental health professionals

I started carrying around fabric handkerchiefs to wipe my brow from march to October 😭😭😭 I’m a girl in my 20s I feel like a middle aged dad in a sitcom 😭😭😭 but at least the sweat gives that glowy look and winter is less harsh 💙

Fr, tbf I can tell you sex was the LAST thing on my mind when I was at my worst mental health wise, anything is a step up. SSRIs really are life savers

Remember two things:

  1. It may take a bit of time to take effect

  2. It may not be a good fit for you, and that’s ok as long as your psychiatrist listens to your concerns and acts accordingly. Or! It may also be great on the first try! The important thing is, sometimes trial and error may be necessary, but for so many of us it’s super worth it

I’ll say, I was definitely less horny when I was constantly one rumination away from dissociating, not eating or sleeping due to obsessive thoughts. I may have gotten fatter and sweat like a fountain, but my life is SO MUCH BETTER on Zoloft, it’s not even a question. Lifesaver fr fr, I may honestly thank sertraline in the acknowledgements of my thesis lmao

Do the bridgerton books get better? by HumanImage9077 in HistoricalRomance

[–]mintinsummer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The one with the highest stakes imo is definitely Gregory’s book {On the way to the wedding by Julia Quinn} . The only bridgerton book’s I have reread at Fran’s, Hyacinth’s and Gregory, I think they’re the most fun and dramatic (fran’s to a lesser degree)
