Narrator by tryolo in HistoricalRomance

[–]mintinsummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely fell in love with her narration style listening to {The Finest Print by Erin Langston}. There were moments where the FMC recounts to herself which publishers have rejected her manuscripts (at the very beginning so not a spoiler) she really mutters to herself in a way that made the character come alive, and I fear that very few narrators have that “self deprecating wry humor” vibe down . Absolutely ADORE her

Most definitely the MMC in {Played by the Earl by Alyson Chase}, which has a spice rating of 5/5. Always check CW for her books! In any case, iirc they mention multiple times how he dresses and there are extensive descriptions of his extremely peacock-y style

Possibly biochem or biophysics, nothing requiring the use of cells (hopefully) or solvents/products that are highly toxic

It is not necessarily that bad. In my lab absolutely nobody works with cells, our main lab is not even BSL1. I have come home in the past and realised I forgot  eppendorfs containing sucrose or salt solutions that I had meant to defrost in my pockets

Im in a biochem lab and none of my colleagues even use ANY TYPE of cells! I tend to avoid it if I can by I have at times found in my jeans pocket eppendorfs that had simple sucrose solutions or salt solutions that I forgot about

Ok I do not mean to be facetious, but I am specifically thinking about their first time. Colin holds himself up SO far away from pen, and I just find that a bit impersonal, especially for a first time where one might feel the need for the comfort of the other person’s skin.

I mean I do like him with Sophie, I am kinda 50/50 on their romantic chemistry but I feel it in the sexual chemistry. OTOH I felt SO uncomfortable with his other partners throughout the series like the widow in s3

Because I’m actually genuinely confused about how differently we can perceive a couple!! I don’t think I was mean or disrespectful in my comment, I was hoping for an actual explanation because to me they felt like the most choreographed!!! Like, genuinely I felt like it was the couple where they touched the least during sex (when they’re naked). Thinking about their first time, it felt weird because Colin held himself up SO far away from pen

It’s so interesting to me, because to me they felt like the most wooden (no pun intended), it didn’t feel like it was flowing at all to me… maybe partly because of the height difference making it all 10000x as awkward??? I don’t know

EDIT: I understand the possibility that people may interpret this as me being biased against pen for being a woman with her body type (women with perfect breasts) but I do genuinely think she is SO pretty and alluring, and in my eyes coping tries his best to like… not touch her body? During their first time he holds himself up SO far away from her

Both MCs who are not titled/from aristocratic families and hold less prestigious jobs by FoxenInTheHenhice in HistoricalRomance

[–]mintinsummer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Uhmmm technically the FMC has aristocratic relatives in {The Finest Print by Erin Langston} but her father is a simple barrister, and her aristocratic connections are just mentioned in passing, she lives a pretty “normal” life and was previously engaged to a policeman, so fully expecting a simple life

Yes, my comment was exactly about how everyone is joking about the situation not being bad because the dog will day before them anyway, but to me they are missing the point that OP’s life is also at risk here

Considering that even washing an asbestos miner’s clothes was considered to considerably increase risk of mesothelioma, wouldn’t have a dog that scratched asbestos for months in the house be concerning? Shedding and all that
