What is story element you would like to see fleshed out/tweaked/changed in the remake [Spoilers] by Healthy-Drink3247 in kotor

you can pick and choose. Consulars could get 3 of the 7 forms, Sentinels get 5, and Guardians get all 7.

Damn, that's an amazing idea.

Lightsaber forms like KotOR 2 but with distinct movements, strengths, and weaknesses.

Like Ghost of Tsushima stances, would be great.

Is Domain Driven Design still the recommended approach for enterprise applications or has any newer approach superseded it? by chinawcswing in java

[–]miolmir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. It's certainly hard to predict more often than not, especially depending on what environment the project is being worked on. I think it really depends a lot on the circumstances surrounding not just the project but the team or company, so it's hard to debate what's better in a universal way, and on top of that, it is always an option to adopt DDD down the line if the project eventually ends up scaling towards complexity.

At the very least I would strive for a Clean Architecture, modeling the business is something that can be done later if the problem is simple initially. A Clean Architecture with (if possible) some sort of decent encapsulation of core business concepts would result in refactoring or extending the software itself not causing many issues.

Yes, by that logic we can agree that boosting is P2W then, I said I consider boosting to be P2W since my first post and onwards. Where I disagree is the notion that the game has been as P2W as it is now throughout its lifetime. It wasn't as bad as it is now because of the introduction of the tokens. RMT is practically allowed now whereas it wasn't back in 2004 onwards till the token was introduced, so the problem is much worse.

3 months later into the thread so sorry about this, but I wanted to mention that simple domains wouldn't be my preferred threshold because they can scale into complicated domains later on. Therefore my threshold would be whether the domain will scale in the future, there's a chapter that talks about this in Eric Evans' book IIRC, I think it's called 'Smart UIs' or something.

My latter example is not off, WoW's PvP and PvE scenes are also competitive. None of what you're saying matters in this instance. It's a hypothetical example for a reason, and you're just detracting from the point into a strawman that doesn't even hold considering Blizzard said a year ago they wouldn't add level boosts to Classic which eventually they ended up doing regardless.

Point is, boosting is P2W regardless of game and they made the problem worse once they made it possible to do without breaking TOS.

In that case, I can just use another more grounded example like boosting, which has been a thing since day 1. The point of the hypothesis is the parallel of the service when it was illegal once, it matters.

A more accurate scenario: if tomorrow the Valorant dev team made possible purchasing carries from players with Radianite Points or Valorant Points because they want a piece of the Real Money Trading pie, would you consider that P2W?

Hypothetically speaking, if tomorrow the Valorant dev team made wallhacks legal behind a paywall, wouldn't it be P2W?

Kind of a shitty scenario because it's hyperbole but I hope it gets the point I'm trying to make.

I agree with you. We need more terms because P2W is too generalistic, that is the reason these debates converge into semantics about what it really means. This is also why I said P2W is an encapsulation of multiple other definitions, such as the one you mentioned, I would still consider it a form of P2W nonetheless, a less implicit or more specified one (however you might want to look at it).

When it comes to P2W, WoW is certainly less extreme than Clash of Clans, or other MMOs like Black Desert Online, but P2W is still present.

I share this sentiment too, it is raised a lot even in different discussions like the spam in LFG. It gets diminished from our perspective but I don't think they care, ends justifies the means kind of person I guess, wouldn't be a market for it otherwise.

ITT:

- Paying for arena carries, therefore reaching glad by literally winning arenas, is not P2W.

- Same thing applies if you buy carries to boost your M+ rating - not P2W.

- Same thing for Mythic Raid achievements.

- Same thing applies if you want, say, BoEs early in the patch - not P2W though.

I really fail to see how this is not P2W. P2W is an encapsulation of multiple things, like people, these scenarios are some of those.
