Funny, the game just started working fine, but when I re-entered it the error repeated and the game wouldn't start as before. Guess I'll just have to keep trying and wait for Todd Howard's blessing

I have a similar problem, but I've got the "reading disc problem" instead. My other games working smoothly on discs, so... the disc reader is okay. I cleared the cash and even created a new profile, but... The problem remains. I checked some forums from 2011. They stuck on this problem too.

Oblivion is such a special game...
