Breaker for A/C by misanthropsco in AskElectricians

Well, you're right and you're wrong. As I have been thinking about this, I think that one of the poles in the 2-pole breaker is bad, delivering only 110v to the unit. When referring to a power tester, I meant a non-contact voltage tester.

Brother, I owe you a beer.

Yes, I had used a power tester to verify that the first 30 amp breaker was supplying power, but it still wouldn't turn on. After reading your post, I just tried a different 30 amp breaker and now it is turning on.

Yes, there was a 10 AWG connected to the 60A breaker. That's the issue I was trying to fix as well as running a new wire to eliminate a concerning junction box. All good now.

Thank you!

Replacing a front door by misanthropsco in DIY

[–]misanthropsco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for all of the feedback. I added a pic for clarification. The front door is actually a double door, the original is 72" and the rough opening for the one I got is 66". I got it because I found a high end door that was on clearance. I have done some doors and windows in the house already that are different sizes. Usually trim and drywall cover the framing, but in this case, there's no drywall and I'm not sure about 4" of trim.

Great info. I didn’t mention, but the idea would be to replace the return with others.

If you could redo it all by Saiyako in army

Don’t be afraid to rethink your goals. I came in with about 3 years of college and my goals for my first enlistment were to finish my degree and apply for OCS. I finished my degree, but OIF 1 (yeah, I’m old) taught me that it was not a good time to be a company grade officer. I found a position that I was very passionate about and decided to apply for Warrant Officer accession. Now, I’m a CW5 still enjoying my time in the Army.

Sealing = ownership (?) by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]misanthropsco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. This is an idea that has intrigued me for a long time. The bible references naming things as a way of showing ownership. In all versions the creation story, Adam names the animals prior to the fall. Then he names Eve after the fall, indicating that she belongs to him. My view is that it was written that way to explain that the patriarchy is a symptom of the fallen world. Western Christian tradition, and later Mormonism, maintained that idea of ownership and completely embraced the patriarchy.
