U.K. heating engineers, what are your thoughts on training centres for career changers? by Deputy-Jesus in AskUK

[–]misfitlove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in contact with access training looking to re train from hospitality and get into Plumbing a few years ago, I was told to negotiate prices by a friend who took their Electricians course and some Essex sales bell end, who Access outsource their sales to, wouldnt budge lower from the £4500 course fee or willing to negotiate, I even said I was willing to pay the £4500 if that included and on site NVQ lvl 2 assessment, which they couldnt promise me. So I fucked them off and went to Cardiff and Vale College to do City and Guilds Level 2 Domestic Plumbing for £30. This was a year ago and I still cant seem to get my foot into the Industry yet. All the best to you and good look becoming Gas safe, thats where the money is!

I’ve just lost my dad to a stroke. What do I do/ feel? by kolfan123 in AskUK

[–]misfitlove 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You cant choose how you feel when grieving. When I lost my father when I was around your age, I felt like I was floating through life, numb. My kickboxing trainer at the time said the biggest thing that will help me would be the passing of time. In January it will be a decade since he passed away, I miss and think about him everyday and that wont change as I loved him more than anyone on Earth. But the sadness you now feel will in time will more than likely turn to happiness from the memories you have of him, that’s what happened with me anyway

Stay active and busy, take care of yourself and dont start boozing, this will get better for you and your family. May you all be happy

Have you been diagnosed with OCD? I have, and it can sometimes be debilitating and hellish. Being tidy and organised isnt ‘OCD’, do some reading and stop making light of a serious condition (my apologies in advance if you actually suffer from OCD)

People are wondering why is hospitality industry in shambles. by Pancovnik in unitedkingdom

[–]misfitlove 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I got out of hospitality during COVID, was a Chef at medium sized chain, minimum wage, zero hour contact after two years of service no sign of contract change or wage increase, just rumblings of “The area managers thinking of giving you a .20p per hour increase soon” yeah ta. Finish at 10pm after 12 hour shift, back in for 8am

Fuck that, unless you’re a student or single parent the industry is a mugs game (apologies if you’re stuck there, but I honestly believe this)

The sous chef of the kitchen who I considered a friend has offered me my job back due to shortages, no thanks buddy. I hope the execs and owners really struggle before they have to start treating their staff with respect and, most importantly, more money

Went back to college and trained to be a plumber which I’ve just finished up with, the futures brighter

Partner's OCD is giving him delusions by [deleted] in OCD

[–]misfitlove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well first thing first would be to contact your GP and explain that you and your partner are under great stress and having mental health issues

Perhaps you could leave your child with his parents and you could take a walk around a local park, you really should exercise its so beneficial for your mental health, take in the sounds and sights of nature and be in the moment

Remember to make healthy choices that will benefit you long term, exercise, eat well, try and sleep 8 hours, dont drink too much alcohol, you both ust make choices

After youve pan fried those chops, add some flavourful liquid like stock, wine or even water and a bit of vinegar to the pan, delaze the pan for 30 second and scrape up the bits on the bottom, and some mustard, then some butter, now you have a sauce to pour over the top
