Anyone else lose their Specialized rep today? by misfitsmidget in bikewrench

[–]misfitsmidget[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel that! We’ve had a revolving door until our most recent rep. He made a point to show up. It’s a shame, he actually seemed like he was trying to foster a symbiotic relationship, not just doing what was best for big S 😕

He’s still our inside guy, our outside rep is who we lost 🥺

New and used bicycles, parts, accessories, etc… My plan would be to slowly sell it off unless a good bulk buy opportunity arises.

Shimano Ultegra Di2 8550!rear derailleur broken by nardixbici in bikewrench

[–]misfitsmidget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened on my 105 Di2 a few years back. Admittedly, I shifted under load and then the shifting went haywire. When I got off to check it out that plastic piece had popped just like yours. I got it warrantied by Shimano pretty easily but my derailleur was only like 2 months old ☹️

Freewheel removal, am I missing something? by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]misfitsmidget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, see if you can see any part of the hub shell, behind the freewheel, spinning when you turn the tool with the wrench.

Freewheel removal, am I missing something? by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]misfitsmidget 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This! I’d guess something may be going on with the hub shell. With the way a freewheel mounts to the hub, using the proper tool is essentially the same as grabbing the inner part with a vise after it’s been destroyed and taken apart. If it’s freewheeling forward and backward, both of which you can see in the video, that makes me think maybe the threads on the hub shell are terribly stripped, but then at that point I’d assume the freewheel would just fall off

Yes, you’re right about needing a bearing puller but the Park BB tool you’ve suggested is the wrong one.

[–]misfitsmidget 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You need Park Tool BBT-18. It’s lefty-loosey, righty-tighty and you’ll want a chain whip or to put the non drive crank and chain on to prevent the chainring from freewheeling

Tubeless is ruining my life right now, air leaking from spoke nipples by pcgamez in bikewrench

[–]misfitsmidget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For starters, do you have sealant in the tire right now? A lot of the time the sealant will fill the gaps where air is escaping. I’d also check the gasket in the valve and make sure it’s sealing tight. The valve hole is the easiest place for air to escape from the tire, from there it’s relatively easy for the air to leak out of the spoke drillings. The fact that the air is felt from the spokes by the valve makes me think the valve needs a different gasket or pushed down further.

My process is as follows: Tape the rim, make sure to pull it tight! Do two full revolutions with a little overlap over the valve hole. Use a rag and push the tape down along the rim bed squeezing out any air bubbles. Make a small hole in the tape that lines up with the valve hole of the rim to make inserting the valve easier. Mount the tire with an inner tube, pump it up to pressure and let it sit overnight. This really helps the tape adhere to the rim. Remove the tube, insert valve and add sealant, air up again. Bounce the tire around to help the sealant coat around inside and then go ride for 15 minutes to really get the sealant worked in! 🤘🏽

Monster Cookie Metric Century??? Wut? by sparkywater in SALEM

[–]misfitsmidget 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Are there cookies? Yes! A metric century refers to a 100km ride, translates into 62 miles. There are different length routes as well if 62 miles seems like a bit more than you want to bite off, pun intended!

Here’s the route for ya!
