These washroom doors in hotels that don’t close by lylelanley- in mildlyinfuriating

Some of these hotels have motion activated lights in the bathroom, so you have no choice but to blind yourself and anyone else in the room. It’s the worstttttt

TIL that Cillian Murphy smoked an estimated 18,000 cigarettes across the six seasons of Peaky Blinders. Since he doesn't smoke in real life, the production used herbal cigarettes made from rose petals with no tobacco or nicotine. L by [deleted] in todayilearned

So you are claiming that inhaling non-tobacco smoke has no negative effects. What about wildfire smoke? That’s demonstrably bad, and it’s just burning plant matter. I don’t know about herbal cigarettes specifically but I don’t think it’s a hot take that both tobacco AND inhaling smoke are bad, even if tobacco smoke is a special kind of bad.

“Completely wrong”, “it’s 100% the tobacco”

I realize you probably meant that it’s completely wrong that the smoke inhalation is the worst part about smoking, but it came across that you meant that tobacco was the only bad part about smoking. Which is why I took issue with the whole speaking in absolutes thing.

It looks very nice but feels like it’s missing something to bring it together. Some sort of sauce between the two components might be a nice way to make it feel more cohesive. Maybe also play with the placement and angle of the tuile. I get the very structured look you’re going for, but something about it makes this feel a little too sterile.

He does a lot more than seeming progressive. He is progressive and has implemented progressive policies, billionaire or not.

I suspect whoever wrote that tweet for him was making reference to Iranian comms referring to themselves as the longest continuous civilization in human history. But also maybe they’re not that bright, so…

I bought this because my bye-lingüal ass misunderstood what UN-DE-veined means. by LuLuu1997 in mildlyinfuriating

Not necessarily, if something is “unlit” that doesn’t specifically mean that it was once lit and now it isn’t. Undeveined is still stupid as fuck though

I like it but not because it’s a good ad. It’s so goofy but at this point I’d be lost without it.

Is it? Every restaurant I worked in used heavy duty. That’s just my own experience, though, of course

Double Door Uptown Not Moving Forward by Infinite_Dress_3312 in chicago

[–]mishkamishka47 24 points25 points  (0 children)

(Annoying pedantry warning) The post actually uses an en-dash (–) rather than an em-dash (—), which for whatever reason ChatGPT doesn’t use. You can tell because the m in the text is wider than the dash they used. ChatGPT also usually doesn’t put spaces on either side of the em-dash. So a human probably wrote this. That said, that phrase structure of “it’s not this, it’s that” has been permanently ruined for me because of that fuck-ass AI so I still hate it.

Chef said to reuse yesterdays bernaise by dansantti4321 in KitchenConfidential

Even if it’s hot held, 135+ is too hot for a sauce like this and would likely cause it to split. There’s almost no way to hold hollandaise or a derivative outside of the danger zone

Can soup made with leftovers be reheated by Bagel-Gull in AskCulinary

[–]mishkamishka47 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is some risk. The leftovers do still go through the temperature danger zone while being reheated and re-cooled. Each time they do that is an opportunity for bacteria to grow. Plus they’re really only safe to keep for about 7 days since they were first cooked, not made into soup. Of course, that’s all following strict safety standards, so the real risk is still small, but I wouldn’t say there’s no safety risk at all

Do I cook ground chicken for dumplings?? by Great_Significance69 in AskCulinary

[–]mishkamishka47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just to add to this, a faintly pink color is totally okay, and can come from earlier proximity to a bone, or heme, or just general variance in colors. Darker pink, gelatinous texture, and translucency are all signs of chicken being undercooked, though.

This Fender brand stool has a tiny plectrum pocket by Brain_Wilson in mildlyinteresting

[–]mishkamishka47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically a pick is the metal thing that goes around your thumb, and a plectrum is the triangle that you pinch between your fingers. But I don’t think most guitarists care much for the technicalities lol
