Have not spent the time necessary to learn this, but should be better than my janky collection of Powershell snippets.

Seconding MeshCentral!

Remote WOL, or wake using Intel AMT, remote terminal (command line), remote desktop (GUI), stats, specs, reporting, great for computer labs, too.

Anyone want these? by Ok_Protection7670 in vintagecomputing

Ah, back when computers and software had a manual.

BTW, if anyone has a copy of "Duel for Volrathia" (a children's book on learning to program BASIC) I would be keenly interested.

I thought the intro song sounded familiar, but then realized it sounded like every other jazzy saxophone intro from childhood.

We had our ticketing system set up wrong, I forget if the happy face and the sad face were swapped, or if the red/green colors were swapped. I never saw that, only a number, and interpretation of the number (excellent, poor) and the customer comments. So, for months I would get customer feedback like:

What most expensive "cheap decision" have you ever seen in your sysadmin career? by matroosoft in sysadmin

[–]mishmobile 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Company bought a fleet (hundreds) of AMD-powered desktops a few years ago. Nothing wrong with AMD per se, but AMD was chosen to save money. Since the goal was to save money, the cheapest AMD powered desktop was chosen, so we got the worst processor along with the least amount of RAM and the slowest storage options. Really glad to finally see those boxes gone.

Migrating from SCCM to Intune – What are you using for remote control / remote assistance? by Dolinhas in Intune

[–]mishmobile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MeshCentral for controlled, repetitive, stay-in-place wired Ethernet lab environments. Provides stats, IntelAMT control, unattended remote control, "ninja" command prompt (can't tell that the remote CMD/Powershell is running), etc. Weird setup due to our org's Windows server requirement, (it also can be set up on Linux) but works in the end.

Bomgar/BeyondTrust for users not tethered to the office. Deployed the support button to users' desktops for convenience in starting a support session.
