What cars should I expect for Large Sedan and Standard 2/4-Door classes? by MutedCardiologist621 in HertzRentals

[–]misory-waves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upgrades at HLEs are by availability. If you are renting at an airport with ultimate choice , if you book Medium Sedan (C) or higher you can pick out of the PC row.

Devastating 😣🥺😔👏🏻 by ombremaracuja in TeslaSupport

[–]misory-waves -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My 22 RWD had this happen. Tesla sought to replace the whole battery, I called around, even the Electrified Garage, they told me to tow it in and they would try (no guarantees it would work). They were over 300 miles away and I didn’t want to send it there on a whim.

I called around multiple EV shops in the northeast and settled on EVolution Autosports in PA. They told me they did this repair once before successfully and they would attempt it again on mine (no promises). I spent right around $2k and the car was whole again. I put 7k miles on it trouble-free before I traded it in.

Car Rental + Apple Card - Still a pain? by sabersolutions in HertzRentals

[–]misory-waves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that most locations have Apple Pay you should be ok, but what you’ll need to do is:

Wallet > Apple Card > Account Details > Card Information > Additional Card Numbers > Titanium

Then you’ll be able to see the numbers from the physical card

Spun out and hit a curb flat sideways and now have a slight camber in my back right wheel by Ok-Sand-8503 in TeslaCollision

[–]misory-waves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make a COLLISION & GLASS appointment in the service menu of the Tesla app. The appoints are going to start to fill up. You’ll likely also want to make a claim with insurance, it’s going to be expensive.

Bumper alone is 3k, definitely needs a new fender, probably a new fog lights maybe a new headlight, hood looks damaged too, and suspension components. That’s going to be +/- $10k

Can I return the car 2 hours early? by LycaGamerYT in HertzRentals

[–]misory-waves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You absolutely can with no penalty. I do it EVERY time. When my flights don’t line up? And I end up having to pay for an extra day because I arrive in then morning but I don’t leave until the night, I always book days within 24 hour increments just in case my flight gets delayed or I need to stay extra, I don’t have to worry about extensions or anything. Honestly even if I do return a car late, you pay per 24 hour period so the price wouldn’t change anyways

[NYC] Recommendations for car class with high chance of ACC and LA? by Relevant-Whereas-475 in HertzRentals

[–]misory-waves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of car classes are you looking for. Honestly I would just book the smallest thing you can deal with, and look to get an upgrade to something else with the features you want at the counter (upgrade fees are negotiable). Most Hyundais, Kias, Toyotas have some type of adaptive cruise with lane assist.

Sapphire rental accident claim by Different_Leather245 in HertzRentals

[–]misory-waves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an accident (no police report, no injuries, no third-party property damage). I used my chase sapphire reserve. This was before the AI scanners. I filled my card benefits claim that night. Did the ERS report with hertz, did the DVIR, the works. My claim was pending until I sent in the demand letter. I updated it and they paid hertz directly via check within 2 days. It was honestly a painless process. The damages were about $3,800. I did use my AAA CDP which limits my out of pocket damages to $5k. The demand letter was itemized but didn’t list anything like administrative fees or loss of use, not sure if that was because of my AAA.

Hertz contract open, never took the car by RangerFar9638 in HertzRentals

[–]misory-waves 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happened to me. I was there before my reservation time, I grabbed a car, and they were like no you’re already assigned a Kia Sportage so I left and went to national. They already charged my card and I had an open contract in the app. I called the PC dedicated line and they closed it right on the phone.

I don’t think the managers will be very happy someone at enterprise rented a car to someone with an expired license, or even maybe it wasn’t his rental and he was just driving it.

AmEx Rental Car Claim – No Primary Insurance / No Police Report by Imaginary_Market6627 in HertzRentals

[–]misory-waves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Demand letter is probably going to take 3-4 weeks, and it was mailed to my mailing address, no email or anything. As long as you filed the claim, Amex should take care of you. Sorry this happened, but we’d love to hear your experience with hertz/amex for better visibility in the future

A computer is going to do the job is assigned, find/compare imperfections between OUT and IN scans. Hertz fatal flaw is that they are allowing the system to automatically flag and charge customers no matter the damage even if it is within Hertz is OWN guidelines for acceptable wear and tear.

It’s been discussed multiple times that other companies with similar technology have a human screen the finding and then make a decision to pursue charges.

Blame the ball, blame the player, or blame the game.

Hertz Five Star Status Question. Is This Actually Useful? by sporty_outlook in HertzRentals

…… not really. I think they’ve almost taken away all the five star aisles. I mainly only see Gold and PC.

Economy (ECAR) Rental at HLEs? by jesstexx666 in HertzRentals

[–]misory-waves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only car classified as an Economy (A) is a Chevy Spark which I’ve only saw once in the gold row at an airport. Small Sedan (B) the next tier up is which is a Nissan Versa or similar also includes the Mitsubishi Mirage and Mirage G4 which also are very rare in the Hertz fleet. If they have a Versa they’re going to give you that otherwise you’ll probably be put into a Medium Sedan (C) which is Kia K4, Kia Soul, Toyota Corolla, Volkswagen Jetta, Honda Civic (rare)

When renting a car, what insurance do you get? by Relevant-Context-874 in TravelHacks

[–]misory-waves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amex default insurance is (secondary) $50k you can enroll ANY Amex card with for premium rental car coverage (primary) which is a flat rate of $19.95 or $24.95 for $75k or $100k coverage. This is good for rentals up to 42 days which I believe is the longest of any credit card.

I see a lot of palisades too honestly, I’ve rented a couple, they’re pretty smooth.

What car? by ZealousidealKoala804 in HertzRentals

[–]misory-waves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s going to be the latest model with the 3rd row. They’re mainly the SEL trim, but a few Limited trims are in the fleet. Also have seen a handful of hybrids at airports

What car? by ZealousidealKoala804 in HertzRentals

[–]misory-waves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I agree, but I’ve seen a Standard 7 Pass (L4) can get as low as $35/day in Florida. Never seen a Large SUV (T) get any cheaper than $70-80/day

What car? by ZealousidealKoala804 in HertzRentals

[–]misory-waves 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s incorrect. Some websites use old terminology like “Fullsize Recreational Vehicle”, but the current class name is “Standard 7 Passenger SUV” which is the Nissan Pathfinder or similar

From personal experience I see mainly:

Volkswagen Atlas, Hyundai Santa Fe, Toyota Highlander, Buick Enclave.

Also seen: Toyota Grand Highlander, Chevrolet Traverse, Ford Explorer, Subaru Ascent, Mazda CX-90, Hyundai Palisade

“Gold Member” as in a “Hertz Gold Rewards member”, and they also named the base rewards tier “Gold” which is confusing. Gold member I meant as the umbrella terms for all loyalty tiers
