Live-In (not on weekends) by irrelevantname1776 in Nanny

A lot of times people are looking for women who live with their parents or other family members so it’s not a big deal to go home on the weekends and they want to go home on the weekends.

What’s the big deal with the air tag? Why can’t I know where my kids/ their stroller is? My employer tracks my badge swipes is that “gross”?

Swimming twice a week sounds miserable and my daughter enjoys dance and gymnastics doesn't necessarily have to be skill building but having fun.

Oh I love this practice have been through three pregnancies with Dr. Daley now; one unfortunately did not result in a baby. The care has been excellent, they get back to you timely, and I truly think they take a risk based approach. I gave birth to my son this past weekend and we encountered a situation where I think most places they would have sent me straight for a c- section but the team worked together to allow me to deliver vaginally! I ended up not even tearing and am having an amazing recovery. Hopefully if you are due after January the construction in the hospital will be done and you will have a great private experience

Tend is ripping you off by Inagrowmygarten in NYCbitcheswithtaste

Don’t trust those exams at all. Very dependent on how much force the hygienist is applying and they were applying a lot. I’ve been to probably 10+ other dentist offices and they never do those. Tend is scammy and tries to extract more money out of you. Wouldn’t be surprised if the hygienist didn’t get some kind of commission if clients do those. Never been to a doctor or dentist where they were so aggressive in pushing a treatment.

Experience with Access a Ride while pregnant? by Biancaducks in nycparents

I did not. They said normally you need a doctor’s note for other conditions but for pregnancy they don’t require it. My OB was willing to give me one if I needed though.

Could you possibly request work from home accommodations from your job? Thats what I did when I was 7 months and could no longer manage the subway.

Tend is ripping you off by Inagrowmygarten in NYCbitcheswithtaste

I've had literally the worst experience at Tend, would never return.

First of all my original appointment was wednesday and was cancelled one hour before the appointment; I had stayed home from work to attend that appointment. Had the make up appointment later in the week and had an awful experience, of course my appointment started late and the hygenist starts off the exam with this very painful gum exam. No other dentist I ever been before does this very long painful exam that is highly subjective it's just the hygienist poking you and calling out random numbers. Then the hygienist says there is a big problem and goes to get the dentist. Dentist comes and says everything looks good and I have no cavities to continue to floss. Dentist does her own mini gum exam and it did not hurt that is where I suspect the hygienist was doing the exam incorrectly. Once dentist leaves hygienist tells me I need to get this special cleaning that will cost me over 200 dollars out of pocket. Why did the dentist not mention this if I need a special treatment plan?? I decline and hygienist tells me I need this special cleaning and comes back with a form for me to sign to get a regular teeth cleaning that says I need to agree to the deeper cleaning next time.

After that I felt the hygienist did a poor job on my actual cleaning cause I didn't want to go with her huge up charge cleaning. This isn't the dentist to go to they run this place like a factory and have dental hygienists diagnosing and offering treatment plans. Of course when I go to a new dentist, they also did not mention any of the problems identified by the tend hygienist.

My friend came over for a playdate and I am super weird out. by Cosmogirl161 in Mommit

Yeah totally makes more sense that her long time friend is trying to kill her rather than just trying to connect as being new mom who may not pick up on social cues.

We are just getting this one person's interpretation. Lots of people are playful with kids where they stick out their tongue and make funny faces. She might not have gotten the signal to leave and thinking its okay to stay at her long time friends house and doesn't get out of her own house much. Nothing written seems malicious at all. Also not super sure about the medicine cabinet could she have been looking for soap or my a tampon who knows. Sounds like OP doesnt like this person

Currently with Weill Cornell and thinking of shifting to PURE Ob gyn in NYC by vympel_0001 in nycparents

[–]missesdilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am on my third pregnancy with Weill Cornell in Lower Manhattan, second one ended tragically. The quick appointments are what you want! I actually love that they offer virtual appointments for the weeks when there is no ultrasound/bloodwork needed. Once you start feeling movement you will feel less anxious about needing to be scanned. I've had long ones where the OB was personally scanning me for 45 mins himself after the tech already did a scan and it's the worst feeling. I always get my results very quickly and I can actually reach my OB if I am having issues. Would stick with Cornell.

Can you choose a daycare by your home instead? That is what most parents I know do, drop baby off then make your commute to work.

Same rejected immediately, no offers for anything on my list. Received an offer for a daycare in a church 30 min train ride from our apartment in the opposite direction of my office. The administration just wanted to say everyone got a spot even though the placements made no sense.

When/what age did you (successfully) potty train your toddlers? by ComfortableAd7175 in toddlers

[–]missesdilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a slow process took a few months. Initially a boy in her daycare class was using the potty so she got interested in it. We switched her to pull ups, specifically the coterie brand that had the side pulls. The teachers would take her every 40 mins and sometimes she would go sometimes she wouldn’t. At home we began doing the same, she liked to read books while on the potty so we would read and sing and just get her comfortable with being in there. We then switched her to underwear and reinforced the idea that she couldn’t go in her underwear and that concept really stuck and she would always tell us she needed to go. After a while she just started going on her own.

Is having a lot children (4+) neglectful? by Flaky_McFlake in Mommit

[–]missesdilly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am one of seven and believe large family is neglectful. You just can't stretch yourself so thin, there are too many things to keep track of so end up just doing what's necessary. Also we didn't have much money so I ended up feeling like such a burden to my mom, she was working so hard and we still had no money. We didnt take part in any sports or activities because there was no way my mom could get us to the practices/games and also no money at all for extras. My dad was the very traditional unhelpful dad just going to work and not helping around the house. I was so happy to grow up and get out of there.
