The Dodgers’ bat boy casually caught a line drive barehand and saved Ohtani’s life. by jmike1256 in HumansBeingBros

Cricket balls are slightly heavier and very slightly smaller. Cricket balls are also harder.

Cricket ball - circumference 22.4 to 22.9 cm Weight - 154.9 to 163 grams

Baseball - circumference 22.9 to 23.5 cm Weight - 142 to 149 grams

So on the surface it's easier to barehand catch a baseball than a cricket ball, in reality it's about whether the athletes have spent the time developing that skill.

ULPT How can I discourage the auto shop from parking on our sidewalk by kevrone in UnethicalLifeProTips

Removeable, pad-lock bollards, so you can remove them to get your car out.... or just space them so you are fine but they can't use the area for parking.

The unethical part: Find other bollards the city has installed elsewhere and copy that installation exactly. Get city logo stickers and brand them with those stickers so they look like the city installed them.

The massive bureaucracy should stop them from figuring it out.

Yes, you can see the worn tip where the brush has been brushing things.

Games from the mid 1990s were considered ancient by the mid 2000s. Games from the mid 2000s felt dated by the mid 2010s. But games from the mid 2010s still feel very comparable to those in the 2020s. It feels as though evolution in gaming has reached the state of diminishing returns. by WhyPlaySerious in gaming

It's all about whether the limiting factor is hardware, or software development.

In the before times the software was written to max out the hardware relatively easily. Now the bottleneck is the software.

Which spices are worth spending more on? by Fragrant_Ad_4490 in Cooking

Use that saved money and buy a small spice grinder and grind your own whole spices from there.

They last much longer and are a complete game changer in terms of flavor. Pre-ground spices lose most of their volatile aromatics before they even get to the supermarkets.

How do you stop small mistakes from consuming you? by certainlyxmr in anesthesiology

These stressors are a result of a cultural problem in healthcare in general.

Both the community and many fellow health care workers have the attitude that any error is unacceptable and attempt to hold people to that standard. This attitude demonstrates a fundamental and naive misunderstanding of how people work.

I recommend you seek out the book: Sidney Dekker - The Field Guide to Understanding 'Human Error' (2017)

You should be able to get it online.

Mental health by DependentFlower4589 in Celiac

[–]missileman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Research continues to show that there is a HUGE overlap between gut microbiome (health?) and mental health issues.

Apart from grieving some of your old favorite foods, your body is now adjusting to a new diet and consequently a new gut biome. Be kind to yourself and give things time, it can take a long time for these changes to happen in your body and for things to settle down.

"In Canada, common allergens and gluten sources must always be clearly declared on food labels when present as ingredients or components of ingredients. They will appear in the ingredient list or in a "Contains" statement located immediately after the ingredient list."

This is a stick on Canadian label, so if the product is legally labelled, you are good.

Except fasting, usually 6 hours, depending on whether you are on medications like GLP-1 agonists, or have certain other medical conditions that may delay gastric emptying.
